Note the pic... looks like today's Naidu girl in Nalgonda or Adoni or Vuyyuru. (Kapu = The Protector)

It is a caste found in the Indian State of Andhra Pradesh. They are also called Balijas, Telagas or Naidus. They make up about 25% of the population of Andhra Pradesh and are involved in various professions.

On the whole they are sturdy, tall, sharp featured, usually dark brown in complexion. Many of today's Kapus strongly resemble people in Chalukya Rashtrakuta and Chola paintings, especially the girls.
