The 2012 United States Senate election in Tennessee will take place on November 6, 2012 concurrently with the 2012 U.S. presidential election as well as other elections to the United States Senate and House of Representatives and various state and local elections. Incumbent Republican U.S. Senator Bob Corker is running for re-election to a second term.

Mark Clayton, a candidate espousing right-wing views, won the Democratic nomination with 30% of the vote. Democratic Party spokesman Sean Braisted told The Tennessean that the Democratic Party would not support Clayton and would seek to replace him with another candidate.

Background

Chattanooga mayor Bob Corker was elected with 50.71% of the vote in 2006 against U.S. representative Harold Ford, Jr.
