Hi
I hate to give other people any sort of advice, but I think your comments on Alan Liefting's talk page are probably not going to convince him soon if they haven't already. It might be worth considering just letting it go for now. I'm an uninvolved admin who separately left a note on his talk page about the "vandalism" thing. If anything else happens, you can always leave a note on my talk page and I will look into it. I don't want to get into a long discussion, I'm just commenting here to try to calm things a little. — Carl (CBM · talk) 19:38, 4 October 2012 (UTC)
- Liefting has no idea how to deal with other editors. He has a crusade, some kind of personal agenda he's following. What I object to the most is people who defend his behaviour when it comes to upsetting and losing new editors. I had to explain his behaviour to somebody last night and today they thanked me for me help and suggested Alan should change his attitude. Hammersoft is a Liefting apologist, most of my comments have tried to address the various issues. Calm is all very well but Liefting has been blocked for precisely this kind of misuse of Misplaced Pages in the past, currently he'll be inline for an indefinite block, and I wouldn't be surprised if a topic/site ban follows. I'm very calm, I do many other things here. Forgive me, I'm not sure we've ever conversed, but my interest lies in enriching the best articles and lists we have, not just tacitly destroying new editors' work. Thanks for your note though. - Hammersoft has made a wikicareer out of trying to defend editors who don't play well with others, such as Delta before he got blocked. Regardless of the merits of the underlying content issues, the biggest problems with these editors have been an inability or unwillingness to explain themselves or respond to complaints, and his persistent interventions on their behalf defending their actions keeps them from having to improve on this and actually learn how to understand and respect consensus. postdlf (talk) 13:47, 5 October 2012 (UTC)
- Yes, I quite agree. I'm afraid I simply won't sit around and watch an editor with over 100k edits and years of experience here snappishly bite new editors and, in Liefting's own words, disrupt Misplaced Pages to prove a point. I guess some people are happy to overlook a block log showing up three blocks for this kind of thing in the last six months. The Rambling Man (talk) 13:50, 5 October 2012 (UTC)
- Worse now seeing Hammersoft making false accusations against me on Liefting's talk page, and then refusing to remove such lies despite request. Amazing. The Rambling Man (talk) 20:46, 8 October 2012 (UTC)
