Deletion of Work (book
You deleted my article, Work (book) due to concerns of the notability of the subject. That was the right call at the time, but now I believe it is time to has a more thorough discussion about this. At least 1000 copies of the book have been shipped, and probably several times that figure if sales for their other books are any indication. It is available on Amazon, and a well-known artist did the cover art. On Misplaced Pages, it is better to err on the side of including something versus not including it when it comes to notability issues. I think the article should be restored. --SuperEditor (talk) 18:46, 11 July 2011 (UTC)
Drastic tag removal
I felt obliged to revert this edit of yours as it removed a good deal more than just the tag mentioned in the edit summary. Guess it was an accident. Favonian (talk) 13:42, 19 July 2011 (UTC)
- Thanks for the quick catch; I think I had accidentally edited the version of the article where the tag was initially placed. Theoldsparkle (talk) 13:47, 19 July 2011 (UTC)
Disambiguation pages
- I acknowledge your note but must differ with you in certain cases. Oftentimes the content on the disambiguation pages is RANDOMLY ordered, with no discernible logical or order of importance. In such cases, Misplaced Pages appears to be unprofessional and sloppy! Such content should be ordered in some discernible, logical fashion, with a schema that is neither tacit nor random. Additionally, many pages contain items that violate Misplaced Pages Style Guidelines in various ways (e.g., they contain multiple links within a given item, or piped links that obscure the actual linked page). You'll note that the work I did improves rather than detracts from the "dab" pages I edited. Froid 10:43, 5 August 2011 (UTC)

Klik disambiguation page
True, the article KLIK (manufacturer) doesn't exist on WP, but that doesn't mean that it should be removed from the page. I have seen plenty of other disambiguation pages with entries with no link forwards: in fact, there is more than one example on that very disambiguation page. It also brings us to wp:red link. Whilst I did not place a red link there, it tells new contributors that there isn't an article for that topic and could be created; also it reminds us that Misplaced Pages is nowhere near finished. As such, I have reverted your edit, and placed a red link. Osarius : T : C : Been CSD'd? 23:43, 15 August 2011 (UTC)

Little people
Hi, in this edit, why did you keep the last two entries but delete Little People of America and ...of Canada? I know WP:PTM but suggest that it would be helpful to reinstate them, under your new heading "See also". - Fayenatic (talk) 20:33, 17 August 2011 (UTC)
- I removed the two organizations essentially because they were partial title matches, as you indicate, and also because they seemed to be clear subtopics of the dwarfism entry. If you search for "little people", referring to dwarfism, it makes sense to refer you to the dwarfism topic. It doesn't make sense, to me, to ask whether you want to go to the topic you actually searched for, or do you want to go to one of these other topics that you didn't actually search for -- because as far as I know, you wouldn't refer to Little People of America as just "little people" -- but that are simply related to that topic. To me it seems like, if you search for "Gone With the Wind", the dab page should give you the link to the movie, but it shouldn't also link you to the stars of the movie, the director, the house where it was filmed, and a discussion of the movie's themes. You search for the movie title, here's how to get to the movie's article. You search for the name of a condition, here's how to get to the condition's article, but not also how to get to other articles that are simply related to the condition.
- I kept the two entries under "See Also" because it seemed at least somewhat plausible to me that someone could search for "little people" trying to reach those articles, because "little people" is prominent in both those titles. If it seems illogical that I considered Little People of America to be a sub-topic of dwarfism, but not Little People, Big World, well, maybe it is. I'm not sure I can explain why I treated those two topics differently, and it's possible I might have made a different decision if I had been editing on a different day or at a different time or in a different mood.
- Sorry to be so wordy! But that was my rationale at the time I edited the page. That being said, I don't feel very strongly about including those two See Also entries, or about excluding the two LP organizations, so if you do still want to add the latter (or remove the former), I won't argue with you. Theoldsparkle (talk) 14:56, 18 August 2011 (UTC)
- Thanks for the full answer! I have reinstated them; I think they serve to protect the item on dwarfism from deletion as pejorative. Also, there is currently no link to them in the article on dwarfism. When in doubt, or if there is scope for flexibility, I prefer to err on the inclusionist side.- Fayenatic (talk) 15:45, 18 August 2011 (UTC)

Disaster preparedness and Emergency management
My reason for linking to the Category "Disaster preparedness" is that there's no article labeled "Disaster preparedness", and a search for "Disaster preparedness" redirects to "Emergency management". In other words, there's no way that an average user would find all the articles on related topics in "Category:Disaster preparedness" or "Safety (Accident prevention)" without the hat notes that I added. It seems that this problem came about because somebody with a fixation on "Emergency management" redirected just about every remotely-related topic under the sun to Emergency management, so there's no way that you can go directly to the topic you're looking for without wading through "Emergency management". Most people will simply give up and never find all the articles in "Category:Disaster preparedness". I don't have time to create articles for "Disaster preparedness" and all the other topics that the person with a fixation on "Emergency management" has presumably deleted, merged into, or redirected to "Emergency management". If there really is a rule that hat notes may not point to categories then I'd appreciate if you tell me where it is. Please see discussions here, here, and here—the ideal is to read the talk page and discuss proposed major changes.
I have just added an explanation of how to do a category search here—because it doesn't seem to make any sense that basic search does not include categories, and most people will assume that it does. LittleBen (talk) 17:12, 18 September 2011 (UTC)

Cooks Source infringement controversy
Hi there-- I noticed you removed a lot of reliable sources from Cooks Source infringement controversy along with some details. While I agree with some of the streamlining, I generally have concerns about removing sources, as articles should be a summary where people can find the best sources for a topic. Would it be OK if I added back the sources? Jokestress (talk) 19:19, 14 October 2011 (UTC)
Click of Click and Clack
I was sure I remembered seeing which one was Click and which one was Clack. It was recently changed, and I found that you did it. And yet the brothers, when asked, said on the October 11, 2011 show (available by podcast) that they wouldn't say which one was which. You changed a bunch of stuff in that edit, and I wasn't sure if you had a reason. But I asked the person who added both to their respective dismbiguation pages for evidence.Vchimpanzee · talk · contributions · 16:42, 15 October 2011 (UTC)

Seamus (dog)
You deleted the following sentence from the Seamus article: As against that, a dog riding inside the car would be exposed to hazards by virtue of not having a seat belt. I did not add this sentence, but my understanding is that it was added as a counterbalance to the statements about the effect of putting the dog on the roof of the car. If you read the original reference below, the three scientists state all the things that are wrong with let a dog ride on the roof of a car, but then one of them says that there is also a risk inside the car since the dog wouldn't be wearing a seatbelt. There was a bit of a battle over allowing any of the statements by the scientists to become part of the Seamus article. See the talk page.Debbie W. 12:57, 21 February 2012 (UTC)

Re: 2012 Auora shooting
- I don't think the Littleton attack needs to be mentioned in the lede; there's a better argument for the stat about the most victims of any U.S. shooting.
Both were added and both were reverted without any rationale. You don't think the Columbine attack needs to be mentioned in the lead. Why do you think that? The reliable sources report it, and it's a standard encyclopedic convention to refer to past incidents in related lead sections. For example, in our lead section for Virginia Tech massacre, we write:
The massacre is the deadliest shooting incident by a single gunman in U.S. history and one of the deadliest in the world. It was also the worst act of mass murder on college students since Syracuse University lost 36 students in the bombing of Pan Am Flight 103.
In fact, that's how most of the sources report the Aurora shooting, so I'm unclear as to why you think it should be removed. Viriditas (talk) 22:58, 30 July 2012 (UTC)
Answer
I've read WP:MINOR, it was an error of mine to use it too frequently. I'll remember to avoid to use it automatically (Note: WP:MINOR is not a reason for a content removal). Anyway, about WP:PTM: The example of Baltimora Zoo is clear but is not related to your content removal on Bosco. Places using "Bosco" in their name are perfectly normal for a link in that page, more than Sergeant Bosco Albert B. A. Baracus and in the same way of Bosco Adventure or Bosco Chocolate Syrup. Thousands of dabpages are done in that way, that you can see in this category, so please don't remove that content. It's a standard (of course not created by me) but found when I started my contributions. WP:PTM made a clear exaple about Baltimora Zoo, as airport, station, church or other. In the case of Bosco (as for other names), it's part of a proper name of a place, the same as a name/surname. Sorry for my English, I hope my explaination was clear. Regards. --Dэя-Бøяg 23:22, 20 August 2012 (UTC)

Thanks for your notice about Greg Macpherson (disambiguation). That was a puzzling mess I left. I think I must have gotten distracted while I was doing this (that never happens! ;-) I was trying to think of how best to handle cases of people typing variants that applied to neither name; e.g., Gregory Mcpherson, Gregory McPherson, etc. They seemed to need a place to redirect. Also, I also discovered there was a Greg McPherson which redirects to the InMe band. I guess the best course would be to add that to the dab page which would make three.
