Help with donating high quality media that i own for article at this link Oryn the Rebel

Hello, i read that it is acceptable for me to upload/donate media for an artist that i represent. I am having trouble figuring out to introduce it to the page, I understand that editing of articles by affiliated people is not acceptable however if i can get help with uploading high quality pictures and or videos of the artist Oryn the Rebel i would appreciate it. The images can only be uploaded if you, yourself, are the owner, or have an authorization from the copyright holder. The subject of the image is not the copyright holder, the photographer is. RNealK (talk) 00:21, 8 February 2013 (UTC)

That's a little too simplistic. It is possible that the subject or his management agency does own the copyright if the contract with the photographer assigned it to them. We cannot, however, assume that there was such an assignment.--ukexpat (talk) 01:12, 8 February 2013 (UTC)

First, I would like to thank the artist for his/her generous intention of donating material. Second, I would like to apologise for Misplaced Pages's difficult rules regarding copyright – these rules are there for good reasons, and people better qualified than me will help to steer you through them. Third, I would point out that this help page is for English-language Misplaced Pages. It would be even better if the pictures could be donated to Misplaced Pages Commons, which is a collection of resources that can be used in all language-versions of Misplaced Pages. However Misplaced Pages Commons has stricter rules regarding copyright than English-language Misplaced Pages. Yes, to echo Maproom, it is great when the copyright holder is willing to release images with a suitable licence, so that they may be used in Misplaced Pages and other Wikimedia projects; but note that "permission to use only on Misplaced Pages" is not an acceptable licence, as this is contrary to Misplaced Pages's own licence. The procedure to follow is explained in WP:Donating copyright materials. What the previous answers haven't talked about is editing the article. Uploading the pictures is quite separate from editing the article. In general, people who are close to the subject are discouraged from editing articles, as they have a conflict of interest, and may find it difficult to edit in a sufficiently neutral way; but adding an appropriate image, once it has been uploaded to Commons or Misplaced Pages, is usually acceptable. --ColinFine (talk) 18:06, 8 February 2013 (UTC)

Incorrect address

Hi, Folks.

My name is Jacqueline Gaudet. I am an officer of the BPOE Hellgate #383 (on of the buildings designed by Link and Haire of Helena).

When reading this piece on the two gentlemen, I scanned for our Lodge. I couldn't help but notice that the address shown is incorrect. Our Lodge is located at 112 N. Pattee, not 120 N. Pattee. There is no 120 N. Pattee. You can confirm this by googling our Lodge or its address.

BHT definitions

Below is a section from your definition on BHT used in foods. My concern is that it sounds like there is still improper labeling and I thought that this was illegal. Can you please fix the last sentence or add that this was something that occured in the 70's. Maybe the tense of the word "contain" should be past and that would solve this. If you update it to reflect that this currently occurs today, I will start a successful petition against it. Highly successful. Thanks very much. MJA

IOS 6.1 Safari Browser issue

Ever since I upgraded to 6.1, I have to click most Misplaced Pages links twice in order to bring up the page. This happens on at least two of my devices. Any idea if this is a known bug?  little green rosetta(talk)

I am unable to reproduce your problem on an iPad 2 (model MC980B/A) or on an iPhone 4s (model MD235B/A); both running iOS 6.1. You might consider resetting each device (note resetting not restarting) or you might try clearing the cache. Other than the above, I am unable to assist. Perhaps ask this question on the computing reference desk? Try to be a little more specific. I have been asked (off-wiki) to clarify the above. My advice for resetting each device is not the same as Settings-->General-->Reset-->Erase All Content and Settings, which restores the device to factory settings, including erasing all apps and content and is specifically not what I am recommending. Nor is resetting each device the same as Settings-->General-->Reset-->Reset All Settings which simply sets the device back to its default settings, including such things as passwords, without erasing apps and content. obtaining detailed page statistics

I am wanting to find out a way to obtain data for this[REDACTED] article; Trust For Nature

I am hoping someone can point me towards a method to obtain data for total page views (going back beyond 90 days), and from where people are finding the page (eg. via search, links within articles or just directly from google). I have been able to use the simple page view statitics via toolbox, but this is limitted to 90 days and only to page views per day.

You can see the stats at this page (use the drop down menu underneath to select different months to view). I'm fairly sure that we don't have a referrer service, so I doubt you would be able to find out where those views originated - you could ask at the Village Pump's Technical board, though. Misplaced Pages has a list of Pravaras which lists Koushika as Vaiswaamitra, Aghamarshana, and Koushika. It lists Viswamitra as Vaiswaamitra, Devaraata, Owtala However, there seem to be some errors/incomplete information in our list. It is best to ask local religious scholars I think. Template

Can someone help me regarding this. I want to know how to make a template such as ] which can change its color after a certain period of time when it have not been updated. {{Editnotice}} has a manually set expiry date not depending on edits to the template, and no system to change appearance more than once. {{tl|ITN-Update}} uses Template:In the news/Last update which is manually reset when a new story is added to ITN. It's not automatic because a change to an existing ITN story shouldn't cause a reset. And a manual reset means that it's sometimes forgotten even when it should have been done. It sounds like you want something else: An automatic system where editors don't have to manually reset a timer, and the expiry time since last edit is always the same. Is that right? I don't think this is possible for a transcluded template. It seems it would require {{REVISIONTIMESTAMP}} but that magic word has no page parameter to see when another page was updated. It can only see when the page itself was updated. So a template could be coded to make the template page itself go blank after a certain time without edits, but I guess this isn't useful to you. I think you are supposed to save {{subst:REVISIONTIMESTAMP}} after updates. At dv:ފަންވަތް:Main Page-Current Events/Last update you have {{REVISIONTIMESTAMP}}. You can select the Upload file link in the Misplaced Pages:Toolbox on the left of all pages. That will start an upload form which will guide you through the necessary steps. However, you cannot currently do that, because your account is not yet autoconfirmed. In order to become autoconfirmed, your accounts must be more than 4 days old and made at least 10 edits. Republishing a previously deleted article initially created by a banned user

I want to republish an article that was once initially created by a banned user. The article was deleted due to that it was created by a banned user. Before the article was deleted, I was planning to improve that article... so I decided to save it on my Sandbox (see it here). I am worried that if I republish it, I may also get banned because I will recreate the same article. So is it okay to republish it, or not?--AR E N Z O Y 1 6A•t a l k• 14:45, 8 February 2013 (UTC)

Yes, you can do that. See WP:PROXYING. If your version was a copypaste of the article (instead of having the article moved to your userspace), you will need to have an admin restore the history of the article for copyright/attribution purposes. – Philosopher  15:01, 8 February 2013 (UTC)

Getting templates to work

Not sure whether this is the right place to ask, but WikiProject: Orphan didn't seem terribly busy. I would like to have a template on one of my subpages that gives me easy access to orphaned articles and other article issues within Misplaced Pages:WikiProject Quebec. The ones supplied by WP:Orphan are as follows:

It seems you have to submit new a new entry for Quebec. You could do that using this interface. User:Svick/WikiProject cleanup listing/Add says you need access granted by User:Svick. Highlights: There is a scene in which Nasir Hussain praises the workmanship of an artifact to Dev Anand when the latter is disturbed. The same scene would be repeated by Hrishikesh Mukherjee in the film Namak Haram (1973) between Om Shivpuri and Amitabh Bachchan. In above highlight paragraph… it should be NAMAK HALAL – instead of - NAMAK HARAM.

Book creator won't download!

I've been using the book creator for a while now, and just compiled a number of pages under the title "Ecoregions & World Heritage Sites". A bit of an eclectic mix, but I had intended it strictly as a download -- something I've done maybe a hundred times or so by now. Problem is, while I could run the page through the compilation process, when I hit <download the file>, it comes back with a "file not found" flag, no matter what format I try to export it as.

For the record, I'm using a (technically) public computer that's running Windows XP, browsing on Firefox, and AVG is doing security.

Any clues, guys?

Somehow you are either bypassing the browser cache or the download pointer is either disabled or misdirected. I'm guessing that the "public" computer has been set up as to disallow downloading of (potentially) harmful files (i.e.: all files?). 74.60.29.141 (talk) 18:40, 8 February 2013 (UTC)

Definitely not all files, as the download manager mutorrent runs fine. I'm looking into the others you mentioned, but I'm not terribly tech-savvy, and only have an idea of what those things are in general -- not even where to look for problems, let alone how to fix them. (Heck, I still try to forget to do the signature at the end of these entries!)

PS - for the record, found it worked fine if I dredged up IE & pointed it at the saved book. Inelegant, but until I can figure out what is going on with the Firefox version, guess I'll just say thanks for trying.

I was aked to create a[REDACTED] page by an organization that I volunteer for and the president gave me permission to use the information from their website. It has now been tagged as copyright. Can you please help me figure out what the next steps are? The organization is trying to develop their web presence and[REDACTED] is one way that they would like to do this.

Any organisation that tries to use Misplaced Pages as part of developing its web presence is automatically violating a fundamental principle of Misplaced Pages: no promotion. (It doesn't matter whether the organisation is commercial or not: promoting it is incompatible with the purposes of Misplaced Pages). Please see WP:ORG. Isleworth Mona Lisa Page

I have read the Misplaced Pages article titled: Isleworth Mona Lisa several times, and have found it to be lacking citations, contains dead or non-existent links, and in general shows a lack of respect for the Misplaced Pages format. I also have followed this Page long enough to see it has been marked needs additional citations for verification over 3 years ago, yet no additional citations have been provided, and it was also once marked NPOV but instead of correcting the NPOV it was explained why it was written from a non-NPOV and the tag was "boldly" reverted. (as reversion was discussed in Talk Pages)It would seem this article has little interest as no one is taking any tagging seriously nor is anyone correcting the grievous errors it contains. I would first suggest you consider improving upon the article by researching the topic to see if you can find reliable sources and include them. Alernately you can go over to the copy editors guild and see if they can help you. It doesn't seem to be a meaningless page because over 9000 people have viewed the page in the last 90 days. Image - licensing?

I'd like to add a picture to an article. I've spoken with the photographer, and they give their permission for it to be used however and in any way. They don't know a specific license to release the photo under. How do I denote that this is a usable picture while keeping the copyright patrollers of Misplaced Pages happy? Thanks in advance! Does anyone know of any active Japanese speaking editors?

I came across Russian classical music, which is mostly unsourced while the Japanese version is listed as a GA. I took a look through Category:User ja, but I didn't see anyone who I knew was active. Mhm, that page says "In scientific articles, particularly those directed to an expert readership, numbers may be delimited with thin spaces.", so it seems in Mersenne prime those thin spaces could also be used. I am asking, because there is a lot of inconsistency in that article and I'd like to unify that. We should abide by MOS:NUM of course but just for the curious ... The Oxford Guide to Style (2002) p. 123 states "In nontechnical work, use commas to separate numbers into units of three, starting from the right: 2,016,523,354 £2,200 or $9,999.50" and "This comma is usually dropped in technical and scientific work, and a thin space is inserted for five-figure numbers and so on: 42 200, 4 200 000". The Bold and the Beautiful wiki page

Hi there,

There is an error on the Bold and the Beautiful Misplaced Pages page. Under "external links" it lists the DVD release table, however this should appear in the DVD section under "distribution", however the table will not move from "external links" section. When editing the DVD section, the table appears (in edit mode only) Very weird! I need to know if I am ok to upload football programme articles and newspaper clippings. I cannot see any copyright on football programmes. Is this classed as free to upload? I need the articles to back up my work.

They are almost certainly copyrighted even if they do not bear a copyright notice. But you do not need the file to be uploaded to use the publication as a source. Redlands High School location is incorrect.

When I type in Redlands High School on facebook, the[REDACTED] article page come up first on top. Am I the only one who has noticed it says Sydney, Australia on there? I tried to go to edit the page on wiki, but when I go there, I cannot see even one reference to anything about Sydney, Australia. So, will someone please take a look at this and fix it please? I have never edited a wiki page before and am not sure if I would know how anyways. I find it disturbing that when someone might look up Redlands High School on facebook then see the false location listing they might be thrown off. It is known that in conditions of acidosis (oxidative potential), the principle electronegativity metals, copper is removed from combinations of the Iron. If the copper was green, the iron is red, which radically change its absorption spectrum, based on the principle of complementary colors. The process that lies at base cellular energy metabolism, takes place in the final biological oxidation, reducing the O atom in the form of metal oxide, in combination with photosensitive substance, porohyrin, colorful,absorbing complementary color, will reduce the O atom, with H and C, with the production of H2O and CO2. Minor sorting problem

Hello. NK Maribor seasons is a Featured list (FL) and it seems there is a problem with the sorting table, the problem being that the table doesnt sort at all. When the article was nominated for FL the table was in order and there wasnt any problem with it, therefore, the problem probably started sometime later with various updates. The version of the article that was promoted to featured list status on 9 September 2011 does not sort either. The article has therefore never supported sorting or something has changed in the underlying template code since the article was promoted. If you are referring to self promotion,take a look at this Wiki article: Historical Jesus. There are dozens of authors and their books cited here, and thousands across the Misplaced Pages spectrum. How many of these references are self inserted and why should it matter if they are casting important new light on a topic, as I am?

Edit warring at Pier Giuseppe Monateri

There has been a significant edit war involving 2.158.15.126 and several other editors at Pier Giuseppe Monateri. I have no involvement, nor do I have any intention of editng the article, but I noticed a comment here at the help desk previously from 2.158.15.126, who admitted to being the article's subject. He also made the same admission in his edit summary on one of his reverts. In both comments, he alluded to defamation. Although I am neutral regarding the dispute, it's clear that the content in question - the entire "Legal problems" section - is extremely contentious. Interestingly, that happens to be the only content in the entire article that is sourced. (I do not know if the sources verify the content because they're all in Italian.) Finally, and perhaps most importantly, is the subject even notable? If not, it would seem that the issue causing the edit war is moot and the article should be deleted. You are not being harassed. Your edits are being removed, by other editors who consider them insufficiently relevant to the articles. And I agree with them – you may not be the only element collector in the world, but element collectors are sufficiently rare (I have never had anyone invite me to see his bottle of hydrogen) that the inclusion of such information is not, in my opinion, justified. A few examples, in addition to the example of obtaining hydrogen by electrolysis (which is already there), might be appropriate in the article Element collecting—though certainly not coverage of "all the elements of the periodic table". I tend to agree that this isn't sufficiently important to appear in all the elements' articles, most of which already contain information about the uses and appearances of the elements in "everyday life" that a collector (especially one willing to take risks that it would be foolish for Misplaced Pages to recommend or encourage) could use to obtain the elements. I'm sorry, this isn't possible. Instead, you could make a dummy edit, using the edit summary to explain that the preceding IP edits are yours. Image placeholders

According to Misplaced Pages:Image placeholders there seems to be some form of consensus that image placeholders shouldn't be used on EN Misplaced Pages. However, the linked discussion Misplaced Pages:Centralized discussion/Image placeholders only seems to deal with placeholder images for articles about people. Also, Misplaced Pages:Image placeholders says "Changes to the software since then have also made the system less effective, and for both of these reasons it is not currently maintained." What software change is that referring to? Also, are placeholder images appropriate in articles about other things than people? For example, I used one in State libraries of Germany, which seemed absolutely appropriate to me. That one was later removed without a reason given. You chose File:Placeholder-Image.jpg which displays the username of the uploader "Wingtipvortex". That would be wrong in any case. A Commons search finds more suitable placeholders for buildings but I'm not sure how it's viewed at Misplaced Pages. One of them currently has a single use in National Issues Forums. I'm not clear on the context where you want to use that resource. If it is simply as an external link, first see WP:EL. however if it is just to be used as a reference to something within an article, it simply needs to be someone that another person familiar with the article subjet could reasonably verify or reproduce that source. I just posted an article in Misplaced Pages about JOSEPH FERRANTE, who also was the piano tuner pof George Harrison, and it was deleted by one of your administrators. There is a plot in Misplaced Pages against JOSEPH FERRANTE by some ENVIOUS and JEALOUS moderators. They even created a prohibition for the name JOSEPH FERRANTE on Misplaced Pages some time ago. I have seen so MANY, MANY, MANY articles on Misplaced Pages about MUSIC NOTHINGS, let alone this plot blocking the page of a GIGANTIC GUITAR VIRTUOSO. Please investigate who are the moderators behind this conspiracy and SACK THEM. I just want my page about JOSEPH FERRANTE to be published at Misplaced Pages. There is a certain Peridon or whatever who is among others I am sure impeding the publication of Joseph Ferrante´s article. I sus pect this because there is a link to contact him in the email you sent but the link does not work, so it has been done on purpose.

You are making us make a lot of guesses. You didn't log in when you posted here but I guess you are User:Rwdavisr who created the deleted article Joseph Ferrante a week ago. It was deleted for multiple reasons linked in the deletion summary. By "email" I guess you refer to User talk:Rwdavisr#Speedy deletion nomination of Joseph Ferrante 2. That is a talk page post and not an email. See Help:Using talk pages. I don't know which link you are claiming doesn't work. The post by Peridon is signed "Peridon (talk)" and both links work. And I don't know what you mean by "They even created a prohibition for the name JOSEPH FERRANTE". As the subjects PR agent you have a strong conflict of interest and shouldn't create an article about him directly in the encyclopedia. At Misplaced Pages:Articles for creation you can mention who you are and submit an article for review but it should be written from a neutral point of view with content already published by reliable sources showing the subject satisfies Misplaced Pages:Notability (music). You are not allowed to use private knowledge or promotional language. Did you write http://forums.straighthealth.com/showthread.php?1958-JOSEPH-FERRANTE-piano-tuner-of-George-Harrison? One of the reasons for deletion was a copyright violation of that. There is no sign of abuse here and nobody will be "sacked". We are all volunteers anyway and weren't hired in the first place. The openly editable model creates a feeling of entitlement to control the content and Misplaced Pages's writing style is difficult to master when you are simultaneously engaged in professional promotion. Possible shutdown of WebCitation.org. Alternatives?

WebCitation.org, one of the easiest archival websites I've ever used, is warning users that it may shut-down, possibly by the end of 2013 (my concern is that it may be sooner), unless financial help is given through donations. I, unfortunately, cannot be of help, plus I am wary of donating money to an organization only to watch it shut-down in the end anyway. As evil as I am for not helping out, I love this website and am sad to see it in its current state. But work must go on—are there alternatives to this website? The Living Word Fellowship

There is much erroneous negative information that appears contesting this group or organization that really needs to be rectified in an objective intellectual manner which the accompanying article by Anthony Cox neesd to be challenged. This article should be investigated completely as I find it appaling that it would be considered as a part of the subject.

First of all I was involved from 1960 on and found nothing but helpful individuals within the group. It seems to me that he has done nothing but run from one thing or another all the while using the rationalization that his logic is the only one and the correct one. He was probably involved in The Banana Patch in Maui and blew his brains out with the drugs he was using.

I never knew Mr. Stevens to pray for the death of any person whether important a major player in politics or any other advocation.

I do not know how your comment page works but if this is not the correct place to post this please send me an e-mail as to how you need it to be done.

If necessary I am more than free to have a long term discussion with anyone on the subject so that the truth of the matter can be displayed properly.

Fretfest

Hi - I asked a colleague of mine to go ahead and create a page on Wiki for people who wanted to know about Fretfest which is a singer songwriter showcase in Queensland. In creating the page, we agreed it would be best to copy information, directly from our own website, so as to avoid confusion and eliminate any double talk. He did this with my permission, however, the page has been immediately halted via "speedy deletion nomination of FretFest. (TW) due to what appears to be gratuitous promotion of my company and/or copyright infringement.

I am at a loss to understand how to overturn this and get on with creating a useful page on Wiki that informs people about Fretfest which we suggest is similar to American Idol and many of the other Talent Quests in that we simply reveal and promote young musicians.

Q. Can you confirm what steps we can take to recetify the problem?
