The National Football Conference (NFC) Championship Game is one of the two semi-final games in the National Football League (NFL) playoffs, alongside the American Football Conference (AFC) Championship Game. The game determines the champion of the NFC as well as the conference's representative in the Super Bowl. The winning team is awarded the George Halas Trophy, and each player on the winning team is awarded a championship ring.

The NFC Championship Game was created in 1970 as a result of the AFL-NFL merger, when the league realigned into two conferences after absorbing all the member clubs of the American Football League (AFL). 13 of the 16 teams from the pre-merger National Football League were placed into the National Football Conference, while the other three were placed into the newly created American Football Conference with the ten teams from the AFL; 16 teams currently compete in the NFC. The Dallas Cowboys have won the most NFC Championship games (8) and share the record for most appearances with the San Francisco 49ers (14), while only the Detroit Lions have failed to win at least one NFC Championship Game, losing to the Washington Redskins in their lone appearance in the 1991 edition of the game.
