Hello! Here are some things to keep in mind when editing Misplaced Pages articles:

* All information should be specifically sourced. This especially goes for criticism or derogatory content in articles. It is not enough to put a list of references at the bottom of an article. Often that is an excuse to put anything at all in the article, and justify it on the grounds that "references" are cited. * All information should be specifically sourced. * Misplaced Pages is an encyclopedia. Misplaced Pages is not ''Who's Who In America'', ''Who's Who On Earth'', nor is it a place for you to post articles promoting your tiny fringe political movements, trivia lists, individual articles on every minor character in your favorite movie, nor is it a place to post articles intended to criticize or defame a person or group. Before you write that article, ask yourself: Would an entry on this subject be something I might expect to find in the ''Funk & Wagnalls Encyclopedia''? If the answer is no, then it probably doesn't belong in Misplaced Pages either. * Misplaced Pages is an encyclopedia. * Misplaced Pages is not a free web hosting service. If you feel some driving need to pontificate about your political or religious opinions, get a blog. If you feel some driving need to put up a webpage about your insignificant elementary school, find a good web hosting service. * Misplaced Pages is not a free web hosting service. * On the other hand, Misplaced Pages is still lacking in articles on people and subjects which really are notable and important, but may not have big fan bases. What I mean by this: somebody who is notable in civic activites, former ambassador, notable philanthropist or so on should have an article. Somebody whose only claim to fame is that they have an extreme opinion and a big mouth and wrote a book about it should not. Yet, which one of the two is more likely to get a Misplaced Pages article, the fringy conspiracy theorist or the notable civic leader? The obnoxious "activist" or the person whose activities led to the building of a hospital, a zoo, or a museum? I am not always a deletionist. In fact there are many subjects which need more articles on Misplaced Pages.
* My only agenda on Misplaced Pages is to stop others from using Misplaced Pages to promote their agenda - I don't care what that agenda is, political or religious, left wing or right wing, I'm opposed to all agendas. Please help keep them off Misplaced Pages and write good articles on non-politicized, interesting topics instead.

Hello! Here are some things to keep in mind when editing Misplaced Pages articles:

  • All information should be specifically sourced. This especially goes for criticism or derogatory content in articles. It is not enough to put a list of references at the bottom of an article. Often that is an excuse to put anything at all in the article, and justify it on the grounds that "references" are cited.
  • Ideally, criticism should cite the specific person making the criticism, and the specific relevant quote. It is not enough to say "critics say that..." or "many people disagree with...". Avoid weasel words, sweeping generalizations, and categorization using defamatory words.
  • Avoid the use of neologisms and disputed concepts in articles which are not specifically about those neologisms and concepts.
  • Misplaced Pages is cluttered up with articles on marginally notable and non-notable people, fancruft, subculture-cruft, and opinion-pushing POV forks. These articles all need to be deleted or merged as appropriate.
  • Misplaced Pages is an encyclopedia. Misplaced Pages is not Who's Who In America, Who's Who On Earth, nor is it a place for you to post articles promoting your tiny fringe political movements, trivia lists, individual articles on every minor character in your favorite movie, nor is it a place to post articles intended to criticize or defame a person or group.
  • Misplaced Pages is not a free web hosting service. If you feel some driving need to pontificate about your political or religious opinions, get a blog. If you feel some driving need to put up a webpage about your insignificant elementary school, find a good web hosting service.
  • On the other hand, Misplaced Pages is still lacking in articles on people and subjects which really are notable and important, but may not have big fan bases. What I mean by this: somebody who is notable in civic activites, former ambassador, notable philanthropist or so on should have an article. Somebody whose only claim to fame is that they have an extreme opinion and a big mouth and wrote a book about it should not.
