Sorry about personal attack but calling me a vandal when I was adding correct information is wrong. As stated in the pdf file for luge only the OLYMPIC Season counts for rankings, not last season as well. So my calculation is correct. |

Olympic qualifying
First the short track speed skating. I do not follow what you are suggesting. After the first weekend basic math would indicate that a 13th place finish in the 500 or 1000 would be enough, a 15th place finish in the 1500, or a third place finish in the relay. Additionally, based on the races today (attributing a minimum wc value for the number of competitors left) it is now certain how the men's 1500 and women's 500 quotas will be made up. I could supply you with the lists of the competitors names if that would help you understand. If you are concerned that one of the skaters will be disqualified (which seems against the rules) before the end of Sundays races, then we are in trouble indicating any athlete in any sport can ever be qualified until the end of their seasons.
Anyway, the skiing. My apologies. Read the talk page, I got deeply frustrated with the FIS and how they currently contradict themselves on the quotas, and had to leave it alone. I will return to it, but I do not see the value in the level of detail on that page, or of constantly updating. Feel free to update it yourself. As for Eritrea, your understanding of the points tables must be wrong because they are not on track for qualifying to the Olympics, they are a long way off. The FIS currently has an Olympic quota list for all sports and for just alpine, they do not agree with each other, but neither include Eritrea. Their lone skier does not meet A standard (ranked 955, needs to be in top 500) or B standard (has no results in slalom or giant slalom). I can only assume their inclusion before was an error because the first list of the season, before a race had been held did not include them.18abruce (talk) 10:04, 15 November 2013 (UTC)
- Sorry I did not explain the speed skating very well. What I did was only list where it is certain. For the 500 and 1000 the top 13 places in the first weekend are certain to qualify, 15 in the 1500, 3 in the relay--just math. After that the two events that I listed additional qualifiers was because, based on the minimum point value for the remaining competitors (the least they can possibly achieve), there is no one left this weekend with lower points than the final quota number. By the end of tomorrow the 500 and 1500 will be complete anyway, after sunday the relay and 1000 will be complete. Last Olympics the 60 men and 60 women was not filled after the quota by event was done, so exactly 60 and 60 as you say may not happen.18abruce (talk) 01:21, 16 November 2013 (UTC)
- I absolutely do not have too many athletes for some countries or in the overall. Read the rules carefully and look again. I have 93 out of a possible 120, how is that too many. If a relay team is qualified, that equals five competitors. If there is something specific you do not understand please say so.18abruce (talk) 19:47, 16 November 2013 (UTC)
- Please look at the previous Olympics, the rules were identical. Your example for Russia is wrong, but an understandable mistake. They will have 3 competitors in each men's race, and can pick from a pool of five qualifiers since they qualified their relay team. Once again, look at 2010 and you should see.18abruce (talk) 20:01, 16 November 2013 (UTC)
- Reading this over, it occurs to me that there is also a real possibility that I could have made a mistake somewhere as well, it has happened. My apologies if I came across as rude or arrogant in any way.18abruce (talk) 21:48, 16 November 2013 (UTC)
