:: Just to clarify, I don't think "this is dumb", and I most certainly didn't state that. It is simply unnecessary and out-of-character for article infoboxes. I left the added material in the lede, but it doesn't belong in the infobox.
:: An RfC may not be necessary as I already listed the discussion at the football project's talk page and that of the Spain project. I could add it to the infobox talk and BLP page as well, but MYS77 has already offered a third opinion.

Re:Ahmed Hasaan

yes, of course we should continue the process. I may not be that much active in the next ten days or so, however. And indeed some of the sentences in the controversial version may not have abided by BLP rules.--Dwaipayan (talk) 02:03, 15 November 2014 (UTC)

Pep Guardiola

Pep Guardiola is a footballer, a soccer player. He is from Catalonia, in northwestern Spain, a small town called Santpedor. The article mentions all of this, so there are no content complaints. I am a park ranger. I like geography. Guardiola is a Catalanist, has played for the Catalonia national team. It seemed reasonably here to add the second-order geographic unit (the autonomous community, as they are called in Spain) so that it read "Santpedor, Catalonia, Spain." I thought this was a pretty innocent change. It meshed up with the rest of the infobox showing he had capped the Catalonia team, and unlike, say, being from Barcelona, it shows folks that Santpedor, a small town, is really in Catalonia. And you don't have to read the whole article to find that out.

Walter says this is dumb. It doesn't follow the guidelines (of course, second-order geographic units are used all the same for players from the US, Canada and the UK; they are used for some Spanish players, and they are generally used for athletes from Spain in other sports). All the same, Walter points to "consistency" and "precedence." Well, sure, but at most they're guidelines, and they've been broken. This guy, a Catalan nationalist, from a small town not obviously in Catalonia, who has capped the Catalonia national team 7 teams ... well, this seems like someone who *at a glance* makes sense to add in Catalonia. You might want to know *right away* that Santpedor is in Catalonia without reading the whole article.

I want Walter to respond to this on the merits, with regard to *this article,* and not articles in general. He doesn't want to do that. Even if we are going to stick with the abstract notions of consistency and precedence, they still need to be made concrete *here.* He doesn't want to do that either, he just wants to utter the words and move on, and accuse me of pushing some sort of nationalist agenda. Umm, sure. Well, the subject of the biography might have one. That's why it's relevant and encyclopedic.

Now it's Walter's move.RangerRichard (talk) 07:26, 25 November 2014 (UTC)

Do you know what a RFC is?-Serialjoepsycho- (talk) 07:27, 25 November 2014 (UTC)

I do (not that I've ever been involved in one-- I've never been involved in anything like this). But silly me, I'd like to think Walter is one who needs to stand up for his deletions. I'm waiting for his comments. On this article.RangerRichard (talk) 07:30, 25 November 2014 (UTC)

Hey there. Just point me in the right direction and I'll start in the RfC. Thank you. -RangerRichard (talk) 08:15, 25 November 2014 (UTC)

Hello Joe (don't know if it is right), how are you? :)
Don't know why Mr. Ranger is discussing about such a silly thing. I've already explained him and showed the guideline of a Football Infobox (see Misplaced Pages:WikiProject Football/Players for more), where only city and country should appear. That's why we use the storyline (or the intro), it gives more space (and proper lines) to explain and detail his region of birth (it's what he's complaining more).
He did this with a lot of pages related to Balearic footballers, when their region was already explicit at some point of the page. And just to clarify to Ranger, is Catalan, not Catalanist (don't know if this word even exist). Guardiola is a Catalan football person, for sure, but we don't need to add the region in box. That's why a wikilink to the city exists, if a reader wants to know more about this city he'll click in the wikilink.
