Vladimir Tismăneanu (b. July 4, 1951 in Braşov) is a well-known historian and commentator on Romanian current affairs. Resident for many years in the United States, he is a frequent visitor to Romania.
Tismăneanu is currently a professor of government and politics at the University of Maryland, and the director of the University of Maryland's Center for the Study of Post-Communist Societies.
