White's online career began in 2007, when he first created his penguinz0 YouTube channel. His early uploads on the channel were gameplay and commentary videos of various video games. In addition to his gaming content, White uploads music and podcasts onto his YouTube channel, as a member of The Gentle Men and a co-host of The Official Podcast, respectively. White has also established himself as a personality within the website's commentary community, and has additionally garnered popularity for his card collecting videos. He has since extended his online activity over to Twitch, where he mainly livestreams gaming content.White also owns Human Media Group, a business management and ad sales company that serves YouTubers and podcasters.

In 2020, White's channel saw significant change and new content which made the channel gain nearly over 3 million subscribers in the same year. He has also expanded on his Music project: "The Gentle Men" producing 5 songs in 2020.

Early life

White was born on August 2, 1994. He used to play basketball in highschool. He went to college and graduated with a degree in Health.

Online content

White's videos and content have evolved over the years. In the beginning, the channel focused primarily on humor and performing glitches on shooter games, such as Battlefield and Call of Duty, and later gaming guides for said games. However, his videos later evolved into more gameplay and commentary and started popular series, such as Real Series, which has him doing voiceovers on infomercials around 2014. Later, around early 2015, he began talking about various types of topics, including internet drama, which still is a major part of the channel today. He also has a reviewing series known as Moist Meter, first published in 2017, where he reviews games and movies on a scale of 0%-100%, and yearly, hosts Moisties, a countdown of the top five best and worst games and movies of that year that appeared on Moist Meter. In 2020, he began to show highlight clips from his Twitch streams, which included various amounts of open gameplay, especially from Among Us, card openings, and YouTube nights. He has also made a new tier-list series known as Liquid Ladder, where he ranks various items on which is the best and the worst. He formerly uploaded 1-2 videos per week, but that has since changed to uploading twice-daily content.

YouTube channel and public image

White created his YouTube channel on May 7, 2007. On August 5, he uploaded his first video on the website, featuring gameplay of Gears of War. Prior to 2020, media outlets sparsely referenced White's gameplay videos, although his 2015 video on Ark: Survival Evolved and his 2017 video showcasing character customization in Mass Effect: Andromeda, were referenced by The Daily Star and Kotaku, respectively.

Tiffany Kelly of The Daily Dot wrote that White is "known for his sardonic commentary." Indeed, in the 2010s, White drew attention from media outlets for his commentary videos, which were often of discourse about the YouTube platform and considerably critical of YouTube's policies. In 2013, for example, White was cited by Tubefilter as panning YouTube's new comment system, which required a Google+ account in order to leave comments on videos. In February 2016, The Guardian included his video reaction to the Fine Brothers' React World controversy in their coverage of the situation. In September, White was cited among other YouTubers who criticized the platform for mass-demonetizing videos. In January 2018, White addressed YouTube after the website removed his video discussing Logan Paul's suicide forest controversy. In 2019, White discussed sexual assault allegations levied toward streamer OnlyUseMeBlade.

After a decade of relative online anonymity, he revealed his face to his viewers in March 2017. By March 2018, White's YouTube channel had accumulated over 2 million subscribers. In May, White's video featuring a pit of 5,400 balls he made for his husky, Tetra, went viral, causing the Press Association to interview him about it and various media outlets to report on it.

In September 2020, White's YouTube channel received a community guideline strike for uploading "graphic content with intent to shock." A "prank road rage video" caused his channel to receive the strike, which YouTube initially upheld after White submitted an appeal. Shortly thereafter, YouTube received backlash for their decision, and reversed the strike, stating it was "an over-enforcement of policies." In the same month, White criticized YouTube's lack of action toward channels that posted videos of animal abuse.

In November, White signed a contract with BroadbandTV Corp (BBTV) to become a content partner with the company. At the time, White had accumulated over 6.5 million subscribers on YouTube. Also in November, White spoke out in a YouTube video against Twitch's increase of DMCA crackdowns.

In December, White announced the results of a video call with Susan Wojcicki and many others at YouTube. Wojcicki announced her plans to help improve the YouTube algorithm for less mainstream creators, such as White, and also planned to improve interactions with YouTube staff.

Twitch streaming

In March 2020, due to COVID-19 lockdown measures, White co-hosted an online Super Smash Bros. Ultimate tournament on his Twitch channel. Later during the year, White's popularity increased due to his Twitch streams centered around gameplay of chess and Among Us, a social deduction video game. In June, he participated in the first PogChamps chess tournament, hosted by Chess.com. White abruptly won "one of the more anticipated games" in the tournament, beating fellow Twitch streamer xQc in six moves. Dot Esports noted the game as one of the five "biggest moments in streaming from 2020", with the clip of White's victory becoming one of the most-viewed in Twitch history, earning over 1.9 million views by December 24. Ultimately, White was the winner of the tournament's consolation bracket. In late October, White participated in U.S. Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez's Among Us streams.

In December, White participated in a "Pokémon Week" event on Twitch, which featured several creators hosting streams where they unboxed different Pokémon card boxes.

Philanthropy

In 2012 White made a video expressing his desire to donate all of his YouTube earnings to charity because he didn't require the money at the time as he was living with his parents. He made a second video the same year named Charity 2 saying he had signed a partnership with maker studios and that he had setup a twitter account to disclose his charity donations. On September 2,2014 he made a video thanking his fans for getting him to 1 million subscribers where he reveals that he has donated over $50,000 to charity through his YouTube earnings.

On November of 2020 he made a video thanking his fans for raising $14,000 for the surgery of two dogs on his Twitch stream with him contributing $3,000 bringing the total to $17,000.
