Hayley Arceneaux is a St. Jude Children's Research Hospital employee, bone cancer survivor and private astronaut who is now a physician assistant; she will join billionaire Jared Isaacman on SpaceX's first private spaceflight SpaceX Inspiration4 this fall. At age 29, Arceneaux could become the youngest American in space, depending on the age of her unannounced crew mates.
She will serve as the crew's Chief Medical Officer. She thinks she might be the first cajun in space. She will also be the first person to launch with a prosthesis.
She was raised in St. Francisville, Louisiana. When she was 10, she had surgery at St. Jude to replace her knee and get a titanium rod in her left thigh bone. Her brother Hayden and her sister in law are aerospace engineers.
