A concern

I was asked to comment today on a related article, which brought me here. I realize this is a sensitive issue, and I don't want to offend anyone, but is it fair to have created this? He stands accused of having joined a German mobile police force when he was 22 years old (around 70 years ago), which was fighting the Russians. He has admitted this, but says he was a member of the Red Army who was taken prisoner by the Germans and forced to fight for them.

At a later point in the war, he joined the French Foreign Legion -- also (he says) against his will to avoid an arrest -- and ended up fighting against the Germans in France, and later against the Italians.

The key allegation is that he took part in the Khatyn massacre in 1943. The allegation comes from KGB interrogations, which, as I understand it, produced a statement from one witness. We don't normally allow BLPs to be created based on such scant evidence, so I'm wondering if this should be merged into the article about the massacre, if even that.

There is information here about how he fought on various sides for anyone willing to plow through it. SlimVirgin 03:19, 30 April 2012 (UTC)

SV, your understanding in the third paragraph is incorrect -- not just "one witness". I have now read the article from Holocaust and Genocide Studies. It should be used as the main source for the assertions about Katriuk's actions; the newspaper articles reporting what is in that journal should be used only when they do not contradict what is in the journal article itself. Holocaust and Genocide Studies article? Is there a link to this ? - Youreallycan 17:47, 30 April 2012 (UTC)
Of course: link. (LMGTFY) Nomoskedasticity (talk) 17:51, 30 April 2012 (UTC)
Ta - I will have a read later. - I have similar concerns to SV regarding this bio. Lots of extreme allegations cited to a single investigative report against a person previously cleared - Youreallycan 17:57, 30 April 2012 (UTC)

It seems Youreallycan is trying to have the File:VladimirKatriuk.jpg image deleted. You may want to contribute to the discussion on the image talk page. JunoBeach (talk) 21:49, 1 May 2012 (UTC)

Complete biography

According to a document of Canadian Ministry of immigration in which Katriuk has stated, you can go to the french version who is now much more complete.
