Intelius Services

Intelius' services evolved from basic people search services in 2003 to more sophisticated services such as IDWatch, Intelius' identity theft detection, prevention and insurance service, which launched in July of 2005

According to a July 2005 Business Week article, IDWatch was one of the world's first real-time identity theft-notification services. The story went on to describe IDWatch's method to ID theft prevention:

The software keeps track of a person's public records, such as credit-card information and car registration. If someone attempts to change personal information on any of these records (and identity thieves often need to change your address to get a credit card or a driver's license in your name), you're notified with an e-mail or a short text message (SMS) to your cell phone.

Later, PC Magazine again covered IDWatch, noting that it is difficult to tell whether or not any ID theft prevention service really works.

Later, Intelius developed its enterprise services, breaking into the employment screening market - part of a multi-billion dollar HR Outshttp://en.wikipedia.org/Special:Upload Upload fileourcing industry. One portion of this expansion of services included the acquisition of IntelliSense, Corp., a boutique employment screening company with great expertise in fingerprinting and international employment screening. This acquisition took place in Q-4 of 2006.

Intelius is increasingly noted as a resource in news articles and TV news stories surrounding the nanny-search process, conducting background checks on potential dates or significant others, and in news stories about crimes where a background check was used to locate or identify a suspect, property owner or victim, as well as industry publications and consumer publications discussing the upward trend of businesses conducting complete employment screenings for all applicants and new hires.
