== Nicolinas DYK nomination ==

Hi Toobigtokale,

Thank you for taking the time to review the article ] and providing your insights on it. Your feedback is appreciated as I aim to enhance the article's quality and accuracy.
I respectfully acknowledge your concerns regarding the language used in the article. While I understand your perspective on the use of certain expressions, I believe they accurately reflect the vibrant nature of the subject matter, as depicted in the sources.
The phrases you highlighted, such as "vibrant assembly" and "reimagined the nomenclature", are drawn directly from the sources available. These expressions are not embellishments but rather reflections of the cultural significance attributed to the Nicolinas festivities by the participants.
Furthermore, I stand by the neutrality of the sources cited. While they may have been produced by individuals closely associated with the subject, they are presented in a manner consistent with the objective of documenting information rather than promoting the festivities to the rest of the world and such.
In maintaining a neutral stance, it is crucial to represent the subject matter as accurately and authentically as possible.

I appreciate your feedback and respect your perspective on the matter. Should there be any additional concerns or suggestions for improvement, I am open to further discussion and collaboration, but I must say I disagree with the points you stated.

Thank you once again for your contribution to the review process.

] (]) 23:51, 31 January 2024 (UTC)

:Thanks for being responsive to the feedback.
:I recommend you take a close read of ]. {{tq|Avoid stating opinions as facts. Usually, articles will contain information about the significant opinions that have been expressed about their subjects. '''However, these opinions should not be stated in Misplaced Pages's voice. Rather, they should be attributed in the text to particular sources, or where justified, described as widespread views, etc.'''}} Even if the opinion is published in a reliable source, it's still an opinion at the end of the day.
:Again and to be clear, you're still allowed to write in these opinions. The only thing is that if wording comes directly from sources, it needs to be made clear that that's the case. You can write things like "People reportedly really enjoy x", but you can't say "x is fun or joyous". ] (]) 23:59, 31 January 2024 (UTC)
::English isn’t really my main language, maybe those details flew over my head. I’m currently taking a brake from Misplaced Pages, someone else has to do it for me, or, you’ll have to wait until I regain my patience to come back to this app.
::Regardless, thank you once more for reviewing the article.
::] (]) 17:20, 1 February 2024 (UTC)
:::That's ok, I recommend you close the GA nomination for now. You can reopen once you've worked on the article again. ] (]) 19:22, 1 February 2024 (UTC)
::::I think we live in a community that can solve the problems as well, I significantly improved the article, but other ones can clean up the article as I’m not the owner of it.
::::The nomination stays up until either someone cleans it up as you suggest or it fails and becomes just another regular article.
::::] (]) 21:04, 2 February 2024 (UTC)
:::::], we've established there's issues that will take a notable amount of effort to clean, this isn't good or polite practice. It adds to the already long backlog of articles that need review. Also you'd be surprised at how long it takes for many articles to get fixed. The majority of my edits are on pages that haven't been adequately fixed for over a decade. I'll leave the decision up to you, but please try to understand where my feedback is coming from at the very least. ] (]) 21:11, 2 February 2024 (UTC)

Editor of the Week

Editor of the Week
Your ongoing efforts to improve the encyclopedia have not gone unnoticed: You have been selected as Editor of the Week in recognition of your great contributions! (courtesy of the Misplaced Pages Editor Retention Project)

User:Prodraxis submitted the following nomination for Editor of the Week:

I would like to nominate Toobigtokale for Editor of the Week for their tireless work on Korea-related articles. As a fellow member of WikiProject Korea, I've always been impressed by their content work, including Utoro, Uji, Budae-jjigae and Koryo Ilbo. Oftentimes, due to the demographics of Misplaced Pages users, Korean subjects are often overlooked due to systemic bias, but users like Toobigtokale combat that bias by engaging in high quality editing in this area. This nomination was seconded by ClydeFranklin, theleekycauldron and F4U.

AWB reference issues

Hi, please tag me here if you spot any issues with my AWB editing. I've been running a find+replace script on several thousand pages to fix up references to sources typically used for Korea-related articles. It's still in development, so sometimes it changes the same page several times due to the new features. toobigtokale (talk) 11:43, 28 February 2024 (UTC)

Also see Misplaced Pages talk:WikiProject Korea#AWB reference edits for more discussion on my AWB edits. toobigtokale (talk) 20:11, 3 March 2024 (UTC)

References needing fixing

Since you have been fixing references, I am posting it here.

There are cases where the |last=, |first=, or |author= parameter in a citation template (Template:Cite web, Template:Cite news, etc.) contains the string 기자.

  • One very interesting case I found: |last=더보기> |first=이정찬 기자 <다른 기사 (found in Andre Jin Coquillard)

You may want to fix these as well. 172.56.232.228 (talk) 20:58, 28 February 2024 (UTC)

Thanks, will make an effort to fix. toobigtokale (talk) 22:42, 28 February 2024 (UTC)

AWB to tag CJK text

hey there! do you have a fairly robust way of identifying untagged text in Hangul etc. with AWB, or is it still mostly manual for you? I've been trying to hack it so I can safely do it but it's too finnicky to trust still. Remsense 00:29, 4 March 2024 (UTC)

I'm currently able to automatically identify text that someone improperly tagged (i.e. someone manually typed in variations on Hangul:), and I can automatically replace it with proper wrapping. It can handle spaces/numbers, but it breaks if English text or special chars are part of the target string. Untagged altogether I haven't tested out yet. Brainstorming; maybe could search for (?<koreantext>(|\ |)+) (arbitrary nametag <koreantext> so can recall later for replacement) and do a lookahead/lookbehind for lack of proper wrapping? I think that may work for many cases, but it'd still break if it runs into English or special chars. toobigtokale (talk) 00:40, 4 March 2024 (UTC)
I was thinking about starting a public file to share relevant AWB snippets. Remsense 00:41, 4 March 2024 (UTC)
Yea that sounds good! My code is a little hacky but I can drop in cleaner bits lol toobigtokale (talk) 00:43, 4 March 2024 (UTC)
