Shootings

In the afternoon, a brawl erupted inside a bar in Cetinje. After the fight, a man identified as 45-year-old Aco Martinović (Montenegrin: Ацо Мартиновић), left the scene and returned to his home to get his gun. He then killed two children and a woman on a street at another location, before he left the pistol and escaped from the scene. Martinović is still on the run. Martinović had been detained in the past for possession of illegal firearms, as well as domestic violence.

Aftermath

Police dispatched special units to search for the attacker in Cetinje, his status is still at large.

Reactions

President Jakov Milatovic expressed that he was “shocked and stunned” by the tragedy. “Instead of holiday joy ... we have been gripped by sadness over the loss of innocent lives,” Milatovic said on Twitter. Prime Minister Milojko Spajic went to the hospital where the wounded were being treated and announced three days of mourning.
