Paddy Scott (born 23 November 1982) is a British Photographer, Speaker, and Expedition Photographer. He has worked on expeditions in places such as Antarctica, The Himalayas and Patagonia. He is a Fellow of the Royal Geographic Society and a member of the Royal Photographic Society.
Early life
Scott is the son of Sir Nicholas Scott KBE, a British Politician, and is also the grandson of Bladen Wilmer Hawke, 9th Baron Hawke.
Scott was born in London to Nicholas Paul Scott, at that time MP for Chelsea, and Cecilia Ann Scott (nee Hawke) in London. He was educated at Worth School a Roman Catholic Boarding School and after at The University of Bristol.
Career
Scott studied documentary filmmaking at the London MetFilm School.
Scott has worked on expeditions as varied as skiing to the South Pole, including the Willis Resilience Expedition, Paddle Boarding in the Amazon, and kite skiing in Greenland.
In 2014 while working for Associated Press in Crimea covering the Annexation of Crimea by the Russian Federation Scott and a number of AP crew members were detained by armed men.
In 2018 Scott spoke at the Royal Geographic Society, at a Tedx event, of his passion for earth’s most remote landscapes and how Humanity is affecting them. He explained that his hope is that by photographing them he can encourage people to take greater ownership of their environment. Scott is also a regular speaker at the Natural History Museum in London.
Photography
In 2017 Scott’s image “The Unstoppable Force” was a finalist in the Wildlife Photographer of the Year Exhibition shown at the Natural History Museum in London and worldwide.
