ThisAV is a defunct internet pornography sharing website hosted from Hong Kong, established in 2009. Contents uploaded are mainly in Chinese or Japanese. In 2015, the owner claimed the website to have around10 million accesses from a million unique IP addresses per day. About15% and 60% of those IPs originate from Hong Kong and Japan, respectively.
The owner of site claims to be a 1980s Hongkonger, with a background in web hosting since their highschool times. They established the site during the 2008 financial crisis, being unable to find a satisfying career and seeing the potential popularity of an internet pornography website.
The site became temporarily inaccessible since January 2023, showing its domain name on sale when accessed. After its reactivation shortly after, the logo for "MissAV" is displayed instead when accessed with mobile browser.
FANZA, a subsidiary of DMM.com announced its acquisition of missav and thisav's .com domain name in January 2025. The takeover is claimed to be achieved through legal means.
History
ThisAV was established in 2009.
The website's theme music, To You That I can't Forget, is created in collaboration with local band ToNick [zh-tw], in 2011.
The website was taken offline temporarily in September 1, 2012, in protest of the Moral and National Education controversy and supporting the Scholarism movement. The message "the Hong Kong government should listen to the voice of Scholarism kids and the 90 thousand protesters on the streets." The website included a blue ribbon in its logo after the knife attack on reporter Kevin Lau. Later during the Umbrella Movement, its typical logo became black-and-white, overlaid with a colored, yellow ribbon. It also released an article satirizing the 8·31 decision.
In Janurary 2025, a US regional court requested the transfer of two .com domain name's ownership to the Japanese corporation Will, against the owner of ThisAV in absentia. That same month FANZA announced its acquisition of missav and thisav's domain name through legal actions.
