Bernie is married to Steve Doneathy a drummer and they have one daughter Erin Kate, born on the 26th April 1999. She released the single Macushla in 2004 with the proceeds going to charity, as her own daughter Kate was stillborn. on this Lorraine Kelly wrote "I wouldn't have expected anything else from one of the hardest working women in showbiz".

Bernadette "Bernie" Therese Nolan is an Irish born entertainer turned actress (born October 17, 1960 in Dublin, Republic of Ireland) who was raised in Blackpool where her family moved to when she was under 2 years old in 1962.

She originally found fame as a member of The Nolans, a group consisting over the years of various of the Nolan sisters and releasing hits such as I'm In The Mood For Dancing. She left the group in 1994, to concentrate on her own career, and in 2000 she joined the cast of Channel 4's soap opera Brookside, leaving in 2002 to play Sheelagh Murphy in ITV's police drama series The Bill.

In 2005, Nolan released her debut solo album All By Myself. The album was then re-released towards the end of 2006.
