Taoyuan City (Chinese: 桃園市; pinyin: Táoyuán Shì; Wade–Giles: T'ao-yüan) is the county seat of Taoyuan County in Taiwan(Republic of China), located in the northwestern part of the island.
"Taoyuan" means "peach garden," since the area used to have many peach blossoms.
Taoyuan is the native home to the Plains tribes of Aborigines. Taoyuan's sister cities are Irvine, California and Kennewick, Washington.
