One Cell in the Sea is the first album from A Fine Frenzy. It was released July 17, 2007. The album debuted at #158 on the Billboard 200 but climbed its way out of the heatseekers charts, and is currently #91 on the Billboard. The album has sold 80,000 copies in its 12 weeks of sales so far.
Reception
The album garnered generally favorable reviews. Alyse Wax of Blogcritics described the album as "haunting, delicate, lyrical, atmospheric, and moving... a strong debut." Likewise, Entertainment Weekly praised the album's "breathless" melodies.
However, Marisa Brown of All Music Guide was less receptive. While commending Sudol's voice and lyrical ability, she summed the album up as "unremarkably dull." Similarly, William Wills of the blog Autinist attacked the album's "mediocrity," but acknowledged that the album "shows she has a ton of potential and talent."
