CIFG is a group of financial guaranty companies, fully owned by the French bank Natixis.

It provides insurance and reinsurance for investment grade transactions in the structured finance, public finance and project finance markets in the U.S. and Europe; it is one of the major bond insurers of the US.

Structure of the group

The group has a somewhat complicated structure which appears to be designed for tax reasons. CIFG Holding Limited, of Bermuda, owns CIFG Assurance North America, Inc (whose offices are in New York and San Francisco) and CIFG Europe (whose offices are in London and Paris). CIFG Guaranty Ltd, also of Bermuda, holds the capital and reinsurance of the group.

Ratings

CIFG was rated Aaa with negative outlook by Moody's on 17 December 2007 , AAA with negative outlook by Standard and Poor's on 18 December 2007, and AAA by Fitch on 22 November 2007.
