John Mayer was born on October 16 1977.
Growing up in Connecticut, John listened to pop music, but it was not untill the age of thirteen that his inspiration for playing the guitar began. Given a Stevie Vaughen tape by a neighbor, John discovered the blues and picked up the guitar. After just two years of practice, he started playing gigs at blues bars and other venues in the area.
