Windows Vista Embedded is a version of Windows Vista which can be embedded into many devices, hence the name, and is the successor of Windows XP Embedded. It is available for download at the Microsoft website. It was rumored that it would be released 2 weeks after the Windows Vista Client on February 14 2007. This version is rumored to have the same features as the Windows Vista Client.
It is designed to be used on ATMs and other embedded systems. These systems must be upgraded or have a clean install; Windows NT 4.0 Embedded systems must receive a clean install, whereas systems running Windows XP Embedded can be upgraded.
This version was made so that users of Windows XP Embedded and Windows NT4 Embedded to upgrade to the brand new operating system. Windows 7 Embedded is being planned to be the successor to this OS, which is planned for 2013.
Windows Vista Embedded does not include Windows Aero, Remote Desktop Connection, Windows Media Center or Windows Media Player. It does not include any themes, except Windows Classic. This version is exclusive to OEMs
