Meatpuppet?
Bouncehoper: What the crap is a meatpuppet?
Baegis: A marionette that subsists on a diet solely of meat and its derivatives.
Bouncehoper: ...How is that different than a sockpuppet? (also, makes me hungry....)
Baegis: Sockpuppets, of course, eat cotton products, which are severely lacking in nutrition and deliciousness.
Bouncehoper: How....strange....lol. thanks!

New name
Ah, the weather... as good a reason for changing names as any, I guess! I remember the summers in Korea-- I loved Fall and Spring, could tolerate Winter, but summer? Hot, muggy, sticky, sudden downpours... Nah... Here it only gets 113 degrees or so in the summer, but it's a dry heat... Dekkappai (talk) 00:22, 12 June 2008 (UTC)
Korean cuisine template
Kinda tired and need to get up early tomorrow, i will look at it in the afternoon when I get home. I think it is a great concept, I think it just needs to have more working links though. We'll talk more about it tomorrow, oh and call me Chris, my last name is Tanner.Chef Tanner (talk) 04:08, 12 June 2008 (UTC)

Wikiproject Korea/Popular culture + manhwa
Hola. I just figured out who you are...your earlier comment about changing your name had puzzled me. :) I came here after viewing the Zombie Hunter article history of edit wars over use of the word "manga". It was like deja-vu, ha ha. Anyway, what actually brought me here was that you'd tagged said article with a WP Korea/Popular culture working group template, and I'm hoping you'll take a moment to pop over to my user talk page and respond to some questions I have about manhwa articles in general. I'm inviting a couple other folks to the chat too, and want to centralize the discussion. Thanks so much!! --hamu♥hamu (talk) 12:43, 12 June 2008 (UTC)

Let me think about it; I'm not Korean nor do I have a connection to the country, other than liking the food. Does that matter? Queenmomcat (talk) 15:43, 12 June 2008 (UTC)

You're welcome! I'm glad to know the "article polishing" wasn't taken amiss; I was trying to edit only for grammar, vocabulary and the like. I'm still feeling around the etiquette aspects of Misplaced Pages. Queenmomcat (talk) 20:29, 12 June 2008 (UTC)

Manhwa project is a go!
I've just been informed that manhwa and other Asian comics have a home in the Comics Wikiproject's World Comics working group! Their omission from the scope was an accidental oversight, and will be rectified in the near future. Please head over to the project and add your name to the general participants list as well as the world comics participants list, and start tagging manhwa articles' talk pages with the group's template. Go ahead and add Korea Wikiproject's template, too, if it's not already there. Please also check out the working group's talk page, where I'm about to start a very rough list of possible tasks. I'm really excited and look forward to working with you! --hamu♥hamu (talk) 03:57, 15 June 2008 (UTC)

Hwang Jin-i (TV series)
Hi, Caspian. I don't know if you noticed, but this very notable TV series has been put up for deletion. I've done a little work on it, but a series as notable as this no doubt has a lot more that can be written on it. If you can point me to some good Korean articles on it, I'll try to work through them for some information, and at least add them as more sourcing to the article. (Also-- I try to stay out of this kind of thing, since I have a strong interest in both Japan and Korea-- but Kusunose's editing of Kim Dae-jung's birthplace has me wondering if he considers anyone born in Japan between 1945 and 1952 as "American births?"... :-) Dekkappai (talk) 21:29, 16 June 2008 (UTC)
- Well, we all have our biases, we just have to keep them out of our editing. Maybe he just had a moment of weakness... I'm having some very strange bot-trouble with the image to the TV series also. It's been tagged twice as unsourced, when the source is quite plainly there... I'd hate to see as lovely an image as that be deleted for no good reason. :-) Dekkappai (talk) 21:44, 16 June 2008 (UTC)
- Well, I don't want to guess about his honne, as long as Wiki-tatemae is observed, we will be OK... Though with these absurd AfDs, and officially-approved vandalism-by-bot, I sometimes have very serious doubts about Wiki-tatemae too! :-) Anyway, I'll try to get the Hwang Jin-i article up to decent quality in time. Dekkappai (talk) 22:02, 16 June 2008 (UTC)
- Hi Caspian. I just wanted to point out your comment on AfD "..I don't understand the nominator's definition of "'notability'" was innappropriate. I think this comment was innappropriate, even if you made it unintentionally. Better re-phrased would have been "This article meets the definition of WP:N because...", and you would have gotten your point across just as much, or even more effectively, and would have avoided making it personal. Cheers, for now. Halifax Nomad (talk) 23:12, 16 June 2008 (UTC)
- To me, your above comment is inappropriate.--Caspian blue (talk) 23:20, 16 June 2008 (UTC)
- Maybe I'm overthinking it, I agree there. I only singled out your comment because you have already pointed out some of my flaws. :) As far as other people using that comment, maybe that's so, but that doesn't make it right, or the best way of arguing your point. And when you you use the phrase "you're a newbie, so...", again you're focusing on me rather than my argument which goes against the spirit of wikipedia. Anyways, I don't want to get in an argument about it. I'm not here to be hostile and I will say no more about it. Halifax Nomad (talk) 23:25, 16 June 2008 (UTC)
- It's not retaliation. If it was, I would have waited to go to an admin. I'm not petty like that, and I won't. As for why I didn't mention anything to Dekkappai, I felt he was out of line actually, definitely more so than you. Not intentionally, just taking something personally that isn't personal. But since I haven't dealt with him already, I didn't feel comfortable mentioning anything to him. You've spoken with me before, and I feel you're rational enough to take advice (and give it) and to stay civil about it in a conversation. Halifax Nomad (talk) 23:38, 16 June 2008 (UTC)
- (ce) Just my 2-cents: I find it odd to pick out Caspian's comment, when I was the one who got really hot under the collar over the AfD. However I think Caspian's comment is entirely appropriate-- it is the opinion, not the user, that he questioned. My comments also, though more passionate, still address the argument, the AfD, not the user. I don't think either Caspian or I ever "attacked" the nominator in any way, only the AfD and the arguments. Also, I don't feel it is inappropriate to become upset over a clearly inappropriate AfD, which I think this one is. It wastes the time of a lot of editors, and it potentially removes perfectly good information from Misplaced Pages. If the article is poorly written and sourced, we can fix this, but an AfD is not a constructive way to ask another editor to work on an article. Dekkappai (talk) 23:43, 16 June 2008 (UTC)

Citations on Korean Cuisine
Hey there, I have been adding citations in what is known as Chicago format, and just to keep in consistency would like to keep new citations in that format. The citation templates you are using are actually not any real format, they are sort of a bastardization of Harvard citation and citation formats shouldn't be mixed. As I have used Chicago format in all the other cuisine articles, as has Peter Isotola (spelling?) from WikiProject Food and Drink, I would like to keep it that way, i hope you don't mind. It is the most popularly used citation format in academic humanities writing, which cuisine writing falls under.Chef Tanner (talk) 01:37, 17 June 2008 (UTC)
- It is what we use in this sort of academic writing in American universities though, I can say it is a bias of mine, but based upon my academic work in universities and how this type of work is usually published in the humanities.--Chef Tanner (talk) 02:01, 17 June 2008 (UTC)

Moving misnamed Korean articles
Hey, I see you're doing some moving of Korean person articles that don't follow WP:NC-KO. I posted about that at WP:KOREA a little while ago, and never got any answer. Films
Well, in my experience, most American film audiences are actually far more provincial than either Koreans or Japanese. In Korea or Japan it's pretty commonplace to watch a foreign film, but in America-- unless you're in a big city-- it's something unusual, and probably the vast majority never do-- unless it's a dubbed Godzilla movie or a "Spaghetti Western"... I know Korea blocked Japanese films for many decades-- I "smuggled" copies of Seven Samurai and Ikiru into Korea once to show them to my in-laws. The films amazed them in many ways... Anyway, about Yasujirō Ozu-- he's definitely not for everyone's taste, far too slow and contemplative for most American audiences, certainly, and even some of my Korean and Japanese relatives fine him too slow. I was lucky to grow up with Mizoguchi and Ozu though. Watching Ozu now, decades later, as an adult, I appreciate a lot more of the depth under the stillness of his films. Yes-- definitely, look for some and give them a try. Dekkappai (talk) 17:42, 24 June 2008 (UTC)
- Oh, the Japanese love their dynamic movies too, you know :-) Check out the exploitation films of the late '60s and '70s-- the Scorpion series or some of the better works of Norifumi Suzuki or Teruo Ishii-- wild and crazy stuff! I do agree that the Japanese cinema has fallen on hard times while the Korean cinema has risen. Not only the anime but all that boring, childish (to me) horror stuff... all the same thing... As a matter of fact one reason I put off watching Spider Forest so long was that I thought it would be just another boring horror movie. (It turned out to be one of my favorite movies of recent years.) Takeshi Kitano is about the only Japanese director I know of working today that I really like-- at least every movie of his I've seen-- I've seen three, I think. Other prominent directors today, like Kiyoshi Kurosawa, remind me of Korea's Kim Ki-duk-- talented, but aimless, they never fulfill the promise of their ideas... Anyway, if you get a chance, give Ozu a chance-- some of the greatest films ever made anywhere, I think, and many film critics say the same. Dekkappai (talk) 19:40, 24 June 2008 (UTC)
Anti-American sentiment in Korea
--Historiographer (talk) 16:25, 27 June 2008 (UTC)
- Pardon me for butting in-- Do we already have an article on that incident started, Historiographer? It seems to me certainly "notable" enough for its own article. And if we do have one started, it can be summarized and sourced and put into the Anti-American sentiment in Korea article. I wouldn't think it needs a large section at that article, since, though it's a major source for the sentiment today, really, it's only a relatively recent one. The sentiment itself goes back at least half a century, I would think. Anyway-- the subject is outside of my normal editing area, but if you need copyedit/English help, I'll be happy to help. Regards. Dekkappai (talk) 16:41, 27 June 2008 (UTC)
- Also, just looking over the article-- it looks like it's becoming a sort of a list of incidents and "in pop culture"... (do The Host and that one song really deserve entire sections here?-- it seems to tilt the article far towards recent events and pop culture...) I'd recommend making it into more a discussion of the sentiment, its origins, its influence, and working these individual incidents and expression into the body of the narrative. Also, to avoid being labeled "POV", an article like this one should be extra careful to provide sourcing and try to present the story in a neutral tone of voice. Just my thoughts though, and I won't be working much on the article, but good luck with it! Dekkappai (talk) 17:17, 27 June 2008 (UTC)
- Right-- I understand, and I agree... it seems to me the kind of thing that Misplaced Pages does worst, since people's emotions and biases get involved. It's completely worthy of an article, not one I'd be interested in working on though. True-- I was trying to put it diplomatically-- but the article looks like a collection of what one editor could think of off the top of his head. A subject like this could have a good, encyclopedic, historically-based article though. So I'm just offering help on English copyedit, thinking that this is the kind of thing that will come up for deletion on baseless grounds like "poor English". Anyway, take care, and cheers! Claude Debussy
The Opera Project works closely with the other classical music projects. Where a composer is less than 50% opera we leave the article in the primary care of the Composers Project. If the Opera Project banner appears on an article it means it is included in automated lists such as Misplaced Pages:WikiProject Opera/Cleanup listing. This may not be appropriate. In this case I just removed the banner following a complaint. Can you possibly unrevert now? --Kleinzach 04:30, 1 July 2008 (UTC)
- I was frequently editing opera articles long ago, mostly French operas. Although Debussy composed a few operas, he left a big step in opera history and I only follow such view as do others (somebody might put the banner for that reason obviously). Besides, I'm also a member of WikiProject Museum and it is not odd that museum articles have somewhat overlapped wikiproject banners such as WP:WikiProject Architecture and WP:WikiProject Museum. Therefore, I can't agree with your point of view. Sorry.--Caspian blue (talk)
- First of all I do know Pelléas et Mélisande quite well. It's important to understand that banners are not for readers, they are linked with categories which are used by bots for automatic sorting. If articles are in the wrong batches it wastes the time of (human) editors. Debussy is correctly categorized as an 'opera composer' and is present in a number of Category:Opera-related lists. (You can check this out.) In this case Debussy was incorrectly tagged for work by the Opera Project because of the Opera banner. I don't do edit wars so I'm not reverting. I hope you will read this comment, understand my point and revert yourself. You don't need to apologize but please understand that banners are not just decorative spam as you appear to be suggesting. Thank you for reading this. --Kleinzach 05:02, 1 July 2008 (UTC)
- I do not think that banner is a decorative spam as you accuse. (I'm hurt by your reckless comment). Besides, I DO KNOW well the suggested list and article because I translated them into Korean for Korean Wikiproject. Besides, I did not apologize to you at all. "sorry" means "regretful" as well.

I've commented at the DRV (and of course Gwen's page) that the close was technically proper and correct. However, that doesn't mean that the all information need be lost. It might be very reasonable to place at least some of the info into a related article, along with the proper cites and refs. Personally I don't know enough about the topic to suggest a specific article, but you seem very familiar with it yourself, so I'm sure you could think of something. I wanted to mention this just in case you didn't realize it was a possibility. Doc Tropics 17:46, 1 July 2008 (UTC) PS - I really enjoyed the pictures on your page, very nice!

Means for gods sake, why did the sudden victim complex of paranoia begin to take root in your mind? for goodness sake, why dont you go edit all the other hundreds and thousands of pages with (perhaps questionable) but nontheless in public domain lyrics? Have you even watched the video? they ARE the proper lyrics and they are on that myspace, whats the big deal? are you going to hide behind flawd[REDACTED] WIKI:RULES or make a common sense decision.

Now, your editing the page, a pretty devicive issue yes? well why havent you watched the REAL video that is linked from the page rather than the myspace FAN video??? Watch that and THEN compare the lyrics, do that make your decision, of course we know what that is already, even though you clearly havent even properly dealt with the whole page (wrong video, not the REAL video made by Yoon min-suk which, since you seem to be too unconcerned about reasearching before you edit, i will include here). Response
In response to a message left on my user talk page:
Commons
Hi, I appreciate that you share and upload your quality photos with Misplaced Pages. However I ask you a favor regarding the uploading. If you directly upload images to Commons, everybody out of English Misplaced Pages can access the images easily and may use them related articles. Besides, transferring images to Commons requires many times, but also removes the history of your contributions, so I wish for the next time, you upload to Commons. If you think that tagging category is troublesome, just add Commons:Category:Korea to photos. So I or others would implement the categorization. Would you consider my suggestion? Thanks--Caspian blue (talk) 18:19, 5 July 2008 (UTC)
It must be evident that I am very new and green at this whole Wiki thing. So new that I have never attempted to communicate to anyone within the user community before and even though I've read through pages and pages of help, don't even understand if I am indeed responding to you in a proper manor and location. My since apologies if I am in the wrong spot here.
It is very clear that this whole Wiki project is put to together and administered by committee. To find any information or assistance must link through page after page after page . . . you get the idea. Guidelines, templates, formatting, editing, licensing - the list goes on and on.
Back to the subject at hand. Pursuant to your request to add photos to "Commons", I sought out the help pages (again) in hopes I would be able to get an understanding the how's and why's of using "Commons". After a very frustrating half hour or so of clicking through link after link on help pages, I gave up in defeat. I did however come across a page where there was a vote asking users which way they thought photos should be added: on subject pages or Commons categories. The vote seem to be tied.
In light of this apparent debate and with respect to your position within the community, your obvious skills in navigating the rules, regulations and Misplaced Pages's idiosyncrasies, am going decline compliance with your request until such time I can get my hands around this whole Commons area issue.
I am also unclear what you mean by the statement "Besides, transferring images to Commons requires many times, but also removes the history of your contributions," from your post.
Thank you for acknowledging my efforts.

Ahh, now I understand why we don't have any pictures of the island. I knew it was a popular vacation spot, but I didn't know it's mainly popular with older people. Thanks for pointing me to dcinside. I suppose I could try writing to the chaplain (his pictures are quite nice), but as you said, it's always a bit awkward writing to a stranger about something like that, and besides, my Korean is atrocious! Thanks too about the maps. I'm just learning how to make them, so any comments or suggestions for how to improve them would be great. Let's become friendsHi Caspian Blue; let's stop our bickering and become friends. You hurt my feelings; I hurt yours. An eye for an eye only makes the world blind. I'm willing to put our differences aside now because I have realized how silly it is for the two of us to continue fighting. What's most important is that we make these[REDACTED] articles as bias-free and accurate as possible. Friends? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 128.120.161.137 (talk) 04:08, 16 July 2008 (UTC)
Awww, you know I'm willing to apologize to you anytime. Please forgive me for all the times I hurt your feelings; I promise it won't happen as long as you stop stalking me on[REDACTED] and stop deleting all of my edits (seriously! I see you everywhere I go on this website). I understand that a lot of the topics I edit are sensitive to you, so I'll try to handle it more carefully; but you have to try to understand that I'm new to[REDACTED] and I'm trying my best to add references to everything I find. You've made a lot of sarcastic and negative comments that have turned me into a broken man. I'm not going to ask for an apology from you; I leave it to you to see if you're willing to reflect on the things you've said to me earlier. That's how I judge a person's character. So all I'm asking now is that you help accommodate my efforts in turning the "Korean war crimes" article into a more organized and accurate one. The person who initially wrote this disappeared after you two got into an argument; leaving me to do all the referencing because nobody else is willing to help me. Just help me fight off all these people trying to mass delete the article (and you know who they are) and I won't make fun off you or whatever. Really, it only annoys me when you stand by these people. I know you're better than that, you've been doing this for a year. Let's put off differences aside for now. 128.120.161.137 (talk) 04:08, 16 July 2008 (UTC) You see; you've lost your mind again. This is what I'm talking about. Why don't you set the example, the standard, and take road less taken (the rational one). What bogus citations do you refer to? If it's the two Korean ones, I've told you before, those were there before I edited the article. They only transferred to the Korean war crimes article because I copy and pasted the whole. You keep on referring to bogus citations, but please be more specific! And what happened to my offer to become friends? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 128.120.161.137 (talk) 05:06, 16 July 2008 (UTC) I actually only conflict with you and that high school kid who took European History AP (you know, the one who justifies the summary execution of American GIs and denies just about everything, sourced or not). I already told you my conditions if you want me to speak nicely to you. As for the article being biased, like I said, its fairly new and is in the process of being edited. You still have not pointed out which sources are misleading... or was your whole argument based on those two Korean articles I accidentally transferred over? 128.120.161.137 (talk) 05:06, 16 July 2008 (UTC) Caspian Blue; I could not understand what you were trying to say in your last comment; so I have decided to ignore it until you fix its grammatical errors. I have, however, considered your belief that the section, "Recent Crimes" should be deleted and agree with you. I have included talk about this in the discussion section. Please feel free to participate and voice in your opinion. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 128.120.161.137 (talk) 08:14, 16 July 2008 (UTC) Message to Ex-oneatf and Caspian blueYou have both posted on my talk page so I shall give you both the same message. McCune-Reischauer
Be careful in making changes to the M-R transliterations; some of them were correct before your changes. Please take a look at the table in McCune-Reischauer. The M-R and Revised romanizations have different rules for use of p/b, t/d, etc., but neither scheme is simple, and converting between them is more complicated than b-p, etc. For example, "일본" is "ilbon" in either system, and never "ilpon." The rules are subtle enough that it's worth printing out the table as a reference. --Amble (talk) 22:30, 19 July 2008 (UTC)
- OK, please be careful, then. That was not meant as a warning, but as a friendly note for your information. My ethnic background is of no importance here. Please check the rules for yourself, since we have articles about both systems of romanization, with handy tables. --Amble (talk) 22:48, 19 July 2008 (UTC)
- Yes, I see what you mean. I thought you were implying that I have to be Korean to know the systems of Romanization, but that's not what you meant. To me, "Be careful with..." is not really a specific command, but more a way of calling someone's attention to something. It's funny, but saying "please" in that context can actually make it more imperative. If I say to someone "Watch the power cord," it's just a way of making sure they see it. If I say "Please watch the power cord," it sounds more like they have already kicked it once or twice and I don't think they're paying attention. And if I say "Will you please watch the power cord," that shows some frustration! So anyway, my apologies for the miscommunication, and please take the posting above as FYI. --Amble (talk) 23:20, 19 July 2008 (UTC)

Dear Mr. Kim,
I offer you my most sincerest apologies in regards to the misunderstanding that occurred at the "South Korea" article. It was truly an honest mistake. When I initially looked at the photograph; I mistook it for dog food because it looked very similar to it. I was engulfed with rage and quickly deleted it because I thought it was a case of anti-Korean vandalism. Upon reflecting your complaint, I have taken a closer look at the photograph and have noticed my mistake: it is not dog food, but kimchi.
I regret this case of cultural misunderstanding.

Infobox
- Hi. I actually agree with you I don't like to see too many transliterations either at the beginning, I think the infobox looks ugly with too much at the top. BUt many editors insist that we have all of the korean variations in the way that they insisted we had all the trobetan/chinese tranlsations. this is the only reason I added them to the Lhasa box. If I had my way I;d remove most of them. Me personally as an englishman I by pass this, it doesn't mean anything to me. I'd rather we had two or three korean transliterations maximum rather than 5 or 6. ♦Blofeld of SPECTRE♦ 12:11, 27 July 2008 (UTC)

I don't remember what I said about the photos but I believe I talked enough about them back then and that's why I have not uploaded any images since then. I don't get why you dredge up something which was ended many years ago. I don't understand why you don't think that Stifle apologized to me either. I'm not excusing my wrongdoing by time but I reflected on myself and the matter ended two years ago. What do you think if you are scolded for what you did when you were a kid? - Also, if you like the new hook, be sure to approve it, so it doesn't get erased by some overzealous person.--Bedford 08:14, 1 August 2008 (UTC)

I sent the URLs you gave me. He has his email open so if you have more Special:EmailUser/Thatcher. But I think he may get annoyed with us flooding his email. Or he could make an exception for this. Rgoodermote 15:40, 1 August 2008 (UTC)
- You do as you see is needed, but this should be handled very quickly. Because I whole heartedly believe that that threat is dead serious. Rgoodermote 15:48, 1 August 2008 (UTC)

Can you add the information you posted to my user page to the WP:AN/I discussion, please? -- The Anome (talk) 16:21, 1 August 2008 (UTC)

I think it would be best all round if you two stayed away from each other. I've instructed him not to edit a page after you for 5 days, and I'm doing the same with you. Do not edit after him. If you really do feel he is stalking you then you need to disengage by not posting messages on his talk page or by editing any articles that he does. Hi, I just want to point you towards this if you hadn't already checked for a response. ~ AmeIiorate U T C @ 11:49, 3 August 2008 (UTC)

You have no right to erase any information on my talk page. I oppose your action. And, Stop reverting. --Carl Daniels (talk) 12:57, 3 August 2008 (UTC)
- Racial or not, you have no right to delete any information by someone on my talk page, and on your talk page. You need to understand you are the person related to that information. You don't stand on the neutral position to make decision whethter it is racial or not. (1) I, Carl Daniels request the third person's arbitration. Do you accept it? And... (2) you had an attraction on my works at wikipedia... you requested 'Check User' on me. what is your objective? Did I do anything wrong to Misplaced Pages, or you? You're looking to be weird! I request you to respond. thanks. --Carl Daniels (talk) 15:34, 3 August 2008 (UTC)
