Stairwell A was a stairway that was left intact after the second plane hit the South Tower of the World Trade Center during the September 11 Attacks. It was supposedly left intact from 9:03am, when United 175 hit the tower, up until 9:59, when it collapsed. 14 people were able to escape the floor of the impact zone (including one man who allegedly saw the plane coming at him), and 4 people from the floors above the impact zone. Several people who were on Stairwell A at the time of the collapse were able to escape the towers after they collapsed.
