Background

Main article: British African-Caribbean community

Population

The 2001 Census recorded 6,739 people born in Dominica as living in the UK. The number of British born people of Dominican origin is unknown, as the UK Census did not sub-categories the British African-Caribbean community into nationalities. Although the overall Afro-Caribbean population in the UK is much larger than the Caribbean born population living in the UK alone, there are many factors which mean that certain sub-groups could have in-proportional immigration and descent figures.
