Sheikh Mohiuddin Ahmed is the Leader and President of the Liberal Party Bangladesh, currently residing in exile in Waterford, Ireland. He also founded and serves as the Chairman of Board of Governors of the Institute of Liberal Democracy, a registered think tank for liberal policies in Bangladesh.

After the founding of the Liberal Party Bangladesh in 1998, Sheikh Mohiuddin Ahmed was a candidate in the 2001 parliamentary election in Bangladesh. Standing in the constituency of Barishal with Pirojpur, he gained 324 votes, or approximately 0.2% of the total.

In 2001, Sheikh Mohiuddin Ahmed published his book Vision and mission of a leader: road to freedom through the Institute of Liberal Democracy.
