The village of '''Joujouka''' in the Al Sherrif mountains of northern ] has been called Jajouka by certain Westerners who wished to market Bachir Attar in the guise of the seminal Sufi master musicians The Master Musicians of Joujouka. The name is not necessarily incorrect as a phonetic anglicanisation of the arab name for the village. However it is shunned by the villagers as it is associated so fimly with Attar who is no longer welcome there or in the Sufi brotherhood that play the ancient music there.
