*'''Comment''': Though IMDB is not accepted as "proof" of notability, it is NOT edited by the public. That's Misplaced Pages. :The accuracy of the info in the article ''is'' in doubt, and even if everything on the article is 100% correct it's a far cry from showing that the person is notable enough to deserve a Misplaced Pages article of his own. And it gets tiring seeing the same highly aggressive editors vote Keep on every AFD they run across based upon claims that are completely at odds with our policies. ] (]) |

Sergio D. Acosta
- Sergio D. Acosta (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views) (delete) – (View log)
Essentially unsourced BLP (IMDB is only semi-independent source/link given, and as that can be edited by the public it is unreliable). Awards allegedly received sound trivial in the extreme. Filmography is a bunch of films without articles. Even if everything in article is true the person sounds like he fails our notability standards by a wide margin. DreamGuy (talk) 15:03, 21 May 2009 (UTC)
- Delete, I could find no significant coverage in reliable sources. Jfire (talk) 15:36, 21 May 2009 (UTC)
- Keep With two films screened at the Cannes Film Festival, D. Acosta appears to possess at least minimal notability. I added more links. --Vejvančický (talk) 16:24, 21 May 2009 (UTC)
- Are there reliable sources for that? If you can provide them, great. DreamGuy (talk) 15:15, 22 May 2009 (UTC)
- Le Keep Yes, this person has "performed" at an international level, so that is why I am suggesting we keep this article. Eurovision 2009 and 2010Sakis Rouvas 20:08, 21 May 2009 (UTC)

- Keep - passes WP:CREATIVE. Subject is notable for his work on the award winning indie-films Runaways and Exploring Love. Varbas (talk) 04:44, 22 May 2009 (UTC)

- Well, you'll need reliable sources to demonstrate that those films actually won awards. IMDB is not a reliable source for such matters, as the filmmaker himself could have added it. Please find sources that meet our rules. DreamGuy (talk) 15:15, 22 May 2009 (UTC)
- Removing references from an article does not mean that references do not exist. I easily located additional reliable references (just as you would have if you cared to look) confirming that his films "Runaways" and "Exploring Love" did indeed win such awards , and I also found a further independent article on Sergio D. Acosta here. Varbas (talk) 22:39, 24 May 2009 (UTC)
- Delete blps without any reliable sources that discuss the subject of the blp in any depth, the sort of things that might establish notability and allow for verification of claims made, are generally a minimum standards for biographical articles in this encyclopedia. And there are none.Bali ultimate (talk) 20:28, 22 May 2009 (UTC)

- STRONG Keep per a cursory search per WP:AFTER shows the subject as meeting inclusion criteria of WP:GNG through coverage in reliable sources, and (even easier) his film projects receiving awards. Schmidt, 00:24, 25 May 2009 (UTC)
- Comment: Though IMDB is not accepted as "proof" of notability, it is NOT edited by the public. That's Misplaced Pages. IMDB does accept user submissions, including submissions from industry experts, but all such submissions, including those from their own editorial staff, are vetted before IMDB publishes. - The "vetting" there is almost nonexistent, especially for smaller films, which is exactly why it is not a reliable source. Your argument is the equivalent of "Oh, i admit it's not reliable, but let's pretend that it is anyway." DreamGuy (talk) 16:55, 25 May 2009 (UTC)
Note to closer: The article has gone through significant WP:CLEANUP per WP:AFTER since it was nominated. Schmidt, 00:24, 25 May 2009 (UTC)
- And is still no closer to showing notability for an article than it was in the beginning. DreamGuy (talk) 16:55, 25 May 2009 (UTC)
