On the Stephan Rosti, Omar Sharif, Hala Gorani, Kurds in Syria and Syrian cuisine articles you have deleted a lot of information that used to be clearly sourced, and you have changed and added a lot of information without providing references. I advise you to stop this behavior immediately. --] (]) 09:47, 16 June 2009 (UTC) |

You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on Farid al-Atrash . Note that the three-revert rule prohibits making more than three reversions on a single page within a 24 hour period. Additionally, users who perform a large number of reversions in content disputes may be blocked for edit warring, even if they do not technically violate the three-revert rule. If you continue, you may be blocked from editing. Please do not repeatedly revert edits, but use the talk page to work towards wording and content that gains a consensus among editors. If necessary, pursue dispute resolution. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 02:50, 1 June 2009 (UTC)
Hello, I will answer some of the questions.
I am using the administrator tools to block people. In this case I thought it was fairer to give a warning rather than block immediately. I am not so concerned as to the exact content in the disputed content. But trying to get the articles into a stable state. This may mean there has to be a bigger input from more people, and some sort of compromise on wording. I must agree that it makes more sense to call Farid al-Atrash Egyptian! (Was any of this called UAR?) On the Golan Heights I was requesting wording that did not upset people but covers the truth. If necessary we can have attributed statements, reflecting what important people say on the matter. This means it is not Misplaced Pages saying that It is an XYZ territory, but rather Israel claims ....... Syria claims ..... Recognition of .... by ..... I suspect that Hertz1888 worked in regards to Misplaced Pages:Recent changes patrol and looks for vandalism. He reports vandals, which I then check out. He also would notice edit wars. You too could look at Special:RecentChanges. If you registered with a username you could have a watch list, and then you could observe what happens to a list of documents of interest to you. - Hello Graeme, thank you for your reply. You say that you use administrator tools to block people, but are you an administrator? What other functions and authorities do you have besides blocking people?
- I resorted to repeated editing because I am not well versed with the tools with which to contact people to explain my point; I am slowly learning.
- I am not sure what you mean by getting the articles into a "stable state", if the nature of Misplaced Pages is such that it is continuously dynamic. I think that you should be concerned that the facts are correct, if not all other content.
- Thank you for seeing the facts on Farid and Asmahan Al-Atrash, but how do we get the facts on the page and make them stay there? As for the UAR (United Arab Republic), it was the official name of Egypt and Syria during their short-lived union (~1959-1961). It has nothing to do with the subject at hand because the Atrashes emigrated to Egypt in the early 1920s.
- On the Golan Heights, the truth is that they fall within the International borders of Syria and have been occupied by Israel since 1967. I have posted, for you convenience, links from the websites of the United Nations and the CIA to show this truth. Misplaced Pages is becoming widely referenced and quoted world-wide, and for it to present wrong statements that dilute, if not distort, the truth is a great dis-service to History and the rights of peoples who may not be as astute with Misplaced Pages:Recent changes patrol as Hertz & Co are. If you are an adminstrator on Misplaced Pages, then you have a special moral obligation to see that only the truth, backed by facts, is posted on those pages.
- Thanks again. (98.194.124.102 (talk) 07:17, 1 June 2009 (UTC))
