Johnny Gomez is a fictional character on the claymation series Celebrity Deathmatch. Johnny was voiced by Maurice Schlafer from 1998 to 2002 and now he is currently voiced by Jim Thornton (2006-present).
Celebrity Deathmatch
Johnny is the announcer and (according to some episodes) co-creator of Celebrity Deathmatch along with Nick Diamond. In one episode, it's shown that before he got the job on Deathmatch, he was a spokesperson who promoted various rectal creams, and also worked on a gardening television channel. He also had a sexual relationship with former reporter Debbie Matenopoulos, even traveling through time to rescue her.
Post-Deathmatch
After the show was cancelled, Johnny's career spiraled downwards, hitting rock bottom when he made appearances as a recurring character on Reba. According to Tally Wong, Johnny went bald after the show was canceled, and now wears a toupee. Johnny eventually got his job back in 2006 when Celebrity Deathmatch was back on the air.
Tally Wong problem
During the fifth season Johnny showed a dislike to interviewer Tally Wong, similar to Nick's dislike to former interviewer Debbie Matenopoulos, questioning Tally and making sarcastic comments about her interviews. It all came to a climax when Tally replaced Nick on the booth after Nick went to the hospital due to anthrax concerns. During a fight between Tommy Lee and Pamela Anderson, Tally revealed to the audience several secrets about he had. When Nick returned to the booth, Johnny declared that being with Tally in the booth was the most brutal thing that had ever happened to him.
Replacements
- Due to complications of some kind Johnny has been replaced a few times through the series by guest commentators.
- Stacey Cornbred and Mills Lane: They replaced Nick and Johnny because they were arrested for showing sexual content on the show.
- Ben Affleck and Matt Damon: They replaced Nick and Johnny for the motion picture from the show.
Age
Johnny's exact age hasn't been revealed on the show. Johnny's myspace says that he's 35 years old, but some episodes show him in the 60's or even the 50's so his age would probably be about 80 years old, but this hasn't been confirmed. Johnny also has been seen in the 1928 for one episode.
Other appearances
- Johnny appears as a commentator and unlockable fighter in the Celebrity Deathmatch video game.
- He briefly appears in a Where My Dogs At? episode. He was shown to be in Jennifer Aniston's top eight in Meplace(a parody of myspace).
- He makes a brief appearance in Marilyn Manson's music video "Astonishing Panorama of the Endtimes".
