Christopher Lyn Davis (born March 17, 1986, in Template:City-state) is a Major League Baseball first baseman for the Texas Rangers.
Professional career
Davis was drafted by the Texas Rangers in the fifth round of the 2006 MLB Draft.
2008
On June 26, 2008, the Rangers called up Davis from Triple-A Oklahoma, and that day he made his major league debut in a game against the Houston Astros, getting a hit in his first Major League at bat. Davis started his first Major League game at first base on June 27, 2008, and hit his first Major League home run during the game. He also homered the next day, becoming the first Texas Ranger to homer in both of his first two Major League starts.

Davis hit a milestone when he struck out for the 100th time in 2009 in his 219th regular season at bat, the fewest at bats that a player has needed to reach the 100-strikeout mark. "It's not the strikeouts that's bothering me, it's just that I'm not having productive at bats," Davis said.
As of July 5 Davis was leading all major leaguers in strikeouts, with 114 in 258 at bats (a pace of 231 strikeouts), and had made contact with the ball only 58.2% of the time that he had swung at pitches, worst in the majors. He had struck out in 41% of his plate appearances, nearly 25% more often than Mark Reynolds struck out while setting the all-time single-season record of 204 strikeouts in 2008, with a strikeout rate of 33%. He was batting .202, with a .256 on base percentage, and 15 home runs.
On July 5, Davis was optioned to the minors, as Josh Hamiltoncame off the disabled list.
On July 12, Davis said he felt he was is ready to return to Texas.
