The Deku Tree is "the spirit of the earth" in the N64 game Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time and wind waker. He is the watcher over (and perhaps the creater of) the child-like Kokiri who live in Kokiri Forest. He is a great tree who holds the Kokori's Emerald. He looks after Link when he grows up, but gets cursed by Ganondorf, for not giving him the Kokori's Emerald. Link goes and defeats the enemies inside him but it is too late. The curse kills him, but not after he has the chance to tell Link to find Princess Zelda at Hyrule Castle.
