Gay marriage is marriage in which both participants are of the same gender. Gay marriages are currently not allowed anywhere, but a small and increasing number of jurisdictions recognize gay unions which provide much the same rights and responsibilites as marriage. Examples are the Netherlands and the US state of Vermont. (More?)
