The Vokkaligas are a community of people concentrated mainly in the Old Mysore Region of Karnataka, India. Their main profession is agriculture. Vokkalathana in Kannada means "tilling land" and Vokkaliga means "one who tills land". They as a people are originally from Tamil Nadu but settled in southern Karnataka many centuries ago. Some famous Vokkaligas are H.D. Deve Gowda, S.M. Krishna.
