Governor of West Virginia Joe Manchin asks for a stoppage in coal mining following two more coal mining deaths in the state that saw fourteen people die in coal mining disasters in January. (CNN).
The controversy surrounding the Muhammad cartoons escalates as newspapers in France, Italy and Spain republish the controversial pictures in defiance of widespread Muslim protests in the Middle East and elsewhere.
