Hi, I noticed you protected the page of Colorado's Republican US Senate nominee because it was non-notable and failed the AfD test. However, I think he is notable now that he has won the nomination and the losing candidate, Jane Norton, has an article herself. So, please unprotect the page and allow us to start editing. I will also bring this up on the protected page noticeboard in case you are not logged in and it can be unblocked faster. Thanks. ] (]) 15:41, 11 August 2010 (UTC) | Hi, I noticed you protected the page of Colorado's Republican US Senate nominee because it was non-notable and failed the AfD test. Mundilfari topic ban
Following discussion at WP:ANI you imposed a topic ban on User:Mundilfari. This edit was an unambiguous breach of the ban. I have reverted that edit and warned the user. I have also reset the time limit before the user can apply for a review of the ban, in accordance with the policy on evasion of bans. My relevant edits are and here. Clearly this editor needs to be watched. JamesBWatson (talk) 07:45, 28 June 2010 (UTC)
- In view of User_talk:JamesBWatson#Incorrect the above may be no longer accurate. JamesBWatson (talk) 09:28, 28 June 2010 (UTC)
- I think the issue is that the closure did not consider any penalty when it was logged on Editing Restrictions. Didn't every user who contributed favour a bock for infringement? This editor is trying the community's boundaries and patience. His actions are clearly vandalism after a final warning, too. And the 3 RR block was never actually put back. Fiddle Faddle (talk) 10:34, 28 June 2010 (UTC)
- I have reverted my actions described above, and imposed a one week block. I regard this as minimal, considering that the editor has made it clear they have no intention of co-operating. If the problem continues I would be willing to consider an indefinite block. JamesBWatson (talk) 10:55, 28 June 2010 (UTC)
Thanks for keeping me in the loop on this topic. Since the user in question couldn't manage to live within the restrictions for more than a couple of days, I'm not expecting this to end in anything except an indefinite block, but I hope to be pleasantly surprised. I feel a little guilty to have been sufficiently inexperienced not to add explicit penalties. I note that the user seems to be aware of our "kangaroo courts" so I figure he must have a fairly good idea of our processes; I don't think a block will have come as a complete surprise. If there is anything you want me to do, including leaving the user a note explaining that these blocks escalate, I'd be happy to do that. Accounting4Taste:talk 12:42, 28 June 2010 (UTC)
- "I feel a little guilty to have been sufficiently inexperienced" - we are all inexperienced until we have gained experience, which comes with mistakes. I too have made mistakes on this because of lack of experience. No guilt required. JamesBWatson (talk) 13:25, 28 June 2010 (UTC)
- My suggestion would be to edit the piece at Editing Restrictions noting the block part. Fiddle Faddle (talk) 12:44, 28 June 2010 (UTC)
- Good idea, thanks; I have done that and so informed the user. If you think I've been unclear with the amendments to the editing restrictions, please do let me know. Accounting4Taste:talk 12:57, 28 June 2010 (UTC)
- The only thing I can think of is a permalink to the ANI discussion from the editing restrictions page. Fiddle Faddle (talk) 13:15, 28 June 2010 (UTC)
- I have to sign out immediately; if you were to do that I would be grateful. Accounting4Taste:talk 13:17, 28 June 2010 (UTC)

Hi Accounting4Taste. I've changed the latest edit you made to reflect more usage of the terms that were agreed upon at the community discussion. I think the edit is self-evidenct, but if you have any questions/concerns about why this needs to use those terms rather than more terms that weren't in the original discussion, please don't hesitate to let me know - I'll be more than happy to discuss this in more depth. Regards, Ncmvocalist (talk) 14:04, 28 June 2010 (UTC)
- Questions or concerns? Hell, no. I'm grateful that you took the time to bring it into line. I think from your edit I have grasped the basic principle of the wording having to match, which I hadn't realized but which makes perfect sense from the point of view of the individual whose privileges are being restricted. Thanks to you and everyone concerned for guiding me through this. Accounting4Taste:talk 15:15, 28 June 2010 (UTC)
- I think that is now perfect. We now have something that cannot be challenged except by a review being asked for, or by any of the other arcane WP processes which no-one understands. Since I'm not an admin I chose not to touch that page, though I did correct a typo there just now. Responsibility without power suits me far better!
- As a side issue, your experience reviewing and closing this might be valuable input here if you have the time to drop by there. No worries if you don't. Fiddle Faddle (talk) 15:31, 28 June 2010 (UTC)
Accounting4Taste is currently feeling discouraged about Misplaced Pages and is taking an off-and-on wikibreak due to loss of motivation. Your help in cheering this user up would be appreciated. |
Please be advised that I am unlikely to be responding to messages of any sort left here and definitely none by e-mail until I can find a reason to believe that volunteering here to be a daycare provider/traffic cop/Miss Manners is doing my mental stability more good than harm. Best of luck with your contributions in the meantime. |
That is a good reason not to be an admin
Why not ignore the admin bit for a while and just edit. It's more fun and's what you joined for. Fiddle Faddle (talk) 21:26, 30 June 2010 (UTC)
- Been thinking. Do something silly. Create an article on something real, but off the wall, and see how long it takes idiots to try to delete it.
- And remember that this community doesn't really exist. The only part that's real is the part you inhabit. No-one and nothing here is actually important, relevant to real life, or, often, interesting. It is just a silly hobby. Seriously, just a silly hobby. So do the hobby part and remember that the mop and bucket can be used by loads of other folk. Fiddle Faddle (talk) 21:38, 30 June 2010 (UTC)
Proposed deletion of Patricia McGerr
The article Patricia McGerr has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
- This article does not meet the notability guideline for biographies.
While all contributions to Misplaced Pages are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Bigvernie (talk) 18:37, 25 July 2010 (UTC)
articles for Josh Fernandez
hello to accounting4taste,
I just want to know that the article Josh Fernandez deleted, How can I post the real Josh Fernandez, the author, and i can give you references.
I've just taking time for this.
thank you --Natural Organic 65 (talk) 08:23, 5 August 2010 (UTC)
- I've responded on your talk page; I disagree with your contention that Mr. Fernandez is sufficiently notable to be the subject of a Misplaced Pages article. I think your only option here is deletion review. Accounting4Taste:talk 14:24, 5 August 2010 (UTC)
