Speedy deletion nomination of Marco Polo's birthplace

A tag has been placed on Marco Polo's birthplace, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Misplaced Pages. This has been done under section G4 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be a repost of material that was previously deleted following a deletion debate, such as at articles for deletion. Under the specified criteria, where an article has substantially identical content to that of an article deleted after debate, and any changes in the content do not address the reasons for which the material was previously deleted, it may be deleted at any time.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag - if no such tag exists then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hangon tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. War's a'brewin

Brutal, Marco Polo's birthplace may very well soon be involved in another edit-war. The 151.76. IP is pushing highly POV edits trying to discredit the Korčula hypothesis regardless of sources, as is very obvious from his numerous edits there. You'll notice he's replaced "island of Korčula" with "Venetian island of Curzola" in a sentence referring to present-day context. He's also reworded the lead stating that Korčula is claimed as a birthplace by "some Croatian sources", in spite of the listed references, adding also the implication that these sources are doing so because of tourist income for the Republic of Croatia (i.e. "some Croats are saying this so that Korčula would have a few more tourists per year"). This is all just at first glance.

Now, I'm staying away from all this, because the moment I do something every Italian nationalist that hates my guts and follows me around will swoop into the firefight defending the IP, and there you go. I'm getting increasingly annoyed at the state of the article and I will have to do something. I'm basically hoping you'll revert the nonsense the guy's inserted 'cause if I do all hell is likely to break loose over there, and there goes the article.

Also, the IP may well be a sock of User:PIO/Luigi 28. A checkuser would be a very good idea. Cheers. --DIREKTOR 18:42, 9 August 2010 (UTC)

The thought that he might be a banned user has crossed my mind, and he is certainly behaving like one. Is this the guy that was POV pushing on the croatisation article? I will revert to the last good version, but I don't want to get in trouble over this, I might need your help in the unlikely case that I get banned. How can I get the IP checked? Recent edit on the Beer in Serbia page

You state that you reverted to earlier version because it "seems more accurate". I live here in Serbia and have both empirical and statistical data backing up my changes. Previous post might "seem more accurate", but it's written from the top of the head. It even lacks the year and says "recently". I fail to see how "recently" is more accurate than the exact year I've given in my edit.

My issue is with the lead, the article should treat Serbia alone, not Serbian beer in other countries. Maybe it should be changed to "Serbian beer". Brutal Deluxe (talk) 16:03, 18 August 2010 (UTC)

1 the history of italy begins by magna graecia, the roman culture was very influenzed by magna graecia 2 Roma is not the largest city of italy (It's Milan), Rome is the largest municipality, not agglomerations and have a density of population very low (Rome is not Paris, London: capital and also largest city, it's not Rome) 3 Also Naples is the epicenter of humanism (by historical Franco Cardini, Fernand Braudel) I had put a source! 4 the san carlo theatre is the most ancient of europe, most important of Scala of Milano, and it's reknow by Unesco. It's already covered in the article, which is already big enough. If you want to add this information do it in the relevant articles, not the lead. My Enghish is poor, but could you help me? They are true and little informations that must to put in the page (not very large informations, so it's not a problem of space). They are already in specific article: Renaissance Humanism, Naples, etc... How can we to talk about humanism without Naples? Alfonso I of Naples? Impossible! Rome "largest city" is crazyness: there are many discussion also into italian wikipedia, etc. Rome is the largest municipality, not agglomeration, so (to delete "largest city"). I do agree you should be discussing this on the article talk page (if only to get the protection lifted), although I think you realise that this is someone who is trying, even though not completely successfully, to work within what he sees as the rules. About Jet Engine

Dear Sir,

Sorry I'm a bit ignorant about the rules of Misplaced Pages and the way to present information which under copyright. Could you please correct the page with the right format? The information is relevant for the Jet Engine as generally accepted today.

Unfortunately even the video does not prove that it was a jet engine, as you can clearly see the air cooled cylinders at the top. The flames that Coanda saw were probably due to backfiring. A mention could be worth it only in the context of experimentation with ducted fan engines. Brutal Deluxe (talk) 13:30, 22 September 2010 (UTC)

No copyright problem, but no author is cited and it does not specifically describe the engine, it only makes a claim, and the AIAA seems to accept papers for publication by any member, so there might be a self-published issue there (see Misplaced Pages:Verifiability for more info). The main problem with this is that I am convinced that Coanda built a ducted fan engine, which appears similar to a jet, and that this seems to be enough to make people state that it was a jet. I could probably find lots of Italian sources that say that the first jet aircraft was the Caproni Campini N.1, when it fact it wasn't powered by a jet but by a thermojet. Ok. So as I expected the Misplaced Pages is personal domain: you own statement "I am convinced". Please forget my requests. I gave up the hope to find reasonable people in this system. Stop erasing the correct quotes of that Boyne article, and other links and documents posted on "Henri Coanda", i am not in the mood for a kind of editions and some sort of war with all kinds of silly kids here, but i just give you a warning. If you have something significant to say, do it on talk page, and see if is something wrong or right there
