Template:Foreignchar Ana María Mérida Gálvez (born Mexico City, 1922 – died August 12, 1991) was a Mexican ballet dancer and choreographer. She also worked for movies.

Biography

Ana Mérida was the daughter of famous painter from Guatemala, Carlos Mérida. She danced as a member of the "Paloma (la novela)"and later in Waldeen's ballet company. She taught at the drama school Escuela de Arte Teatral, led the national ballet, and was head of the department of dance of the Instituto Nacional de Bellas Artes.

The Mexican artist José Clemente Orozco portrayed her. She died in consequence of a peritonitis.
