This is another true welcome, this time, as it should have been originally. Misplaced Pages policies are being changed, this month, to help new editors avoid disputes with contentious previous editors. It was terrible the way you were first treated, when attempting to discuss controversies about the MoMK article, and then being dragged into ]. In 2009, I had been a registered user editing thousands of articles, with no blocks/bans in almost 4 years, when I started trying to edit MoMK, and within weeks, I was blocked for 1 month, then topic-banned for 3 months ("92 days" exactly), going 5.5 months without editing MoMK in year 2010. We are trying to make sure that crap doesn't happen to other editors, but remember those kinds of blocks/bans are not the stuff that normal people would do. There seems to be some sort of anti-Knox hatred by some editors, much the same as in other Internet websites with vicious debates about the case (as documented in reliable sources; search: Guardian "anti-Knox bloggers"). Hence, it is important to join with open-minded editors and reach a "rough consensus" to expand the article, rather than be goaded into escalating fights, against their "repressed rage" about Knox (a lot of rumors made her appear guilty to them). There seems to be some amount of "trolling" and "baiting" to make editors angry so they can be banned, as a means of "]" to remove opposing editors. There is an article about "]" (ODD) which gives some insight into dealing with oppositional people. Years ago, I tried to offer psychiatric counseling to some people with severe mindsets (they are obviously off-balance); however, I was reminded, by an admin, how Misplaced Pages is funded to "write the encyclopedia" not to provide mental-health advice to afflicted editors, so we just try to avoid conflicts. Perhaps, some day, Misplaced Pages will have a way to offer the much-needed psychiatric help, but for now, just try to team with positive-minded editors and keep editing. Anyway, a sincere welcome, this time. -] 00:37, 14 May 2011 (UTC) |

Civility
Edits like this one don't help your cause. I suggest ignoring the hounding by certain editors and just focusing on making positive improvements to articles that do interest you. I also suggest that you either strike through your last comment (if someone has already commented on it) or, better still, revert it. For someone as close to being blocked as you are, an edit like that could induce an Admin with a low threshhold for incivility to block you.LedRush (talk) 18:31, 3 May 2011 (UTC)
I was only expressing a subjective opinion. Others may feel that SuperMarioMan's articles are interesting, and their subjective opinion is just as valid or invalid as mine is. I don't see how any of this is related to Misplaced Pages's civility rules. 18:51, 3 May 2011 (UTC)
Welcome Back
Welcome back, Cody. While it may seem unfair, especially seeing as Tarc, TMCk and Pablo are openly snarky, rude, unhelpful and uncivil, please try and be on your best behavior. These editors will gang up on you and have you blocked if you break the civility standards on Misplaced Pages, even if you do so with marginally uncivil edits which are not as bad as what they do. This isn't fair, but it is a reality. Your best course of action is to try and keep sarcasm to a minimum, and try not to make any personal attacks at all. Don't merely follow the civility rules as much as is acceptable, strive to be even more civil, even when these editors attack you and your ideas unfairly.
Good luck, and welcome back.LedRush (talk) 15:28, 13 May 2011 (UTC)
- I know. I'm really going to try not to be rude to anyone. CodyJoeBibby (talk) 16:30, 13 May 2011 (UTC)

- Thanks. I'm just trying to succinctly stick to the facts in a neutral tone. CodyJoeBibby (talk) 18:23, 13 May 2011 (UTC)
- You do seem to have improved. I would , however, suggest that you remove SuperMario's name from your earlier comments today. Calling out an editor like that is an unnecessary provocation...and after all, he didn't "show up" which now leaves you in a light that I don't think behooves you. You will have placed him on the defensive and he would be quite right to respond in his defense. You still have the ability to avert that and we can all press forward. Please consider it. Thank you,

Another sincere Welcome
This is another true welcome, this time, as it should have been originally. Misplaced Pages policies are being changed, this month, to help new editors avoid disputes with contentious previous editors. It was terrible the way you were first treated, when attempting to discuss controversies about the MoMK article, and then being dragged into WP:ANI. There seems to be some amount of "trolling" and "baiting" to make editors angry so they can be banned, as a means of "WP:Gaming the system" to remove opposing editors. There is an article about "Oppositional Defiance Disorder" (ODD) which gives some insight into dealing with oppositional people.
