Kapu is a caste in the Indian State of Andhra Pradesh. The members of this caste are called Kapus, Balijas, Telagas or Naidus. They are predominantly a farmer community. It is thought that Kapus are among the earliest and original populations of South India. In modern India, they are spread across various professions.The population of this caste is estimated to be 25% of the state, roughly about 17.5 million. Kapus were the people who supposedly have come from kampilya(near ayodhya)so called kapu.kapu means protector
