Welcome to Lhb1239's Misplaced Pages talk page.

Here is a great list of things to know and remember about this online encyclopedia -- it came in handy to me when first starting to edit Misplaced Pages and I still refer to it when necessary.

I have certain principles governing this talk page which I expect you to adhere to if you post here. (This talk page is my "territory", (although I acknowledge it's not really mine, it's the community's) and I assume janitorial responsibility for it.

  • If leaving a new message, please see "...click here to leave me a message" notice above.
  • If posting a reply to a comment, please place your new comments underneath the comment you are replying to.
  • Please indent your posts with ":" if replying to an existing topic (or "::" if replying to a reply).
  • Please sign and date your entry by inserting "~~~~" at the end.
  • I will generally respond to comments on this Talk page that are posted here, rather than replying via your Talk page; you may want to watch this page until you are responded to.
  • I prefer a clean talk page and will delete old messages after a reasonable period of time. The history tab will show you a complete list of all past comments if you are interested.
  • Comments such as these are appreciated and welcome: constructive criticism in the spirit of being helpful and editing collegially; corrections as appropriate and necessary in the spirit of being helpful and editing collegially.
  • Comments such as these are not appreciated and are unwelcome: a barrage or onslaught of negatively-tinged comments that include, but are not limited to, demands for answers; unconstructive criticism in the spirit of being negative for negative's sake; templates placed in the spirit of retaliation or 'just because'; harassment; personal attacks.
  • If you want a reply to comments left here, please allow time for that to happen. In the case of possible contention or disagreement, I may need time to "cool down" and collect my thoughts (or just reply helpfully and wisely) before responding to talk page comments/questions. Please keep this in mind, and remember to act like the kind of adults we are all expected to emulate here at The Project.
  • I reserve the right to delete talk page comments or questions without answering them if I sense baiting, unneeded confrontation, hostility, inappropriate aggression, and/or misdirected anger - don't expect a response to these types of comments.
  • I realize I don't "own" this talk page, however, I reserve the right to tell you to not leave comments here if you have demonstrated a consistent lack of good faith toward me and/or continually leave nothing but negative and/or harassing comments on this talk page.
  • I may, without notice, refactor comments to put like with like, correct indents, or retitle sections to reflect their contents more clearly. If I inadvertently change the meaning of anything, please let me know so I can fix it.
  • Blatant vandalism will not be tolerated and will be removed on the spot.

Responding to RFCs

Remember that RFCs are part of Dispute Resolution and at times may take place in a heated environment. Please take a look at the relevant RFC page before responding and be sure that you are willing and able to enter that environment and contribute to making the discussion a calm and productive one focussed on the content issue at hand. See also Misplaced Pages:Requests for comment#Suggestions for responding.

Greetings! You have been randomly selected to receive an invitation to participate in the request for comment on Talk:7 World Trade Center. Should you wish to respond to the invitation, your contribution to this discussion will be very much appreciated! However, please note that your input will carry no greater weight than anyone else's: remember that an RFC aims to reach a reasoned consensus position, and is not a vote. In support of that, your contribution should focus on thoughtful evaluation of the issues and available evidence, and provide further relevant evidence if possible.

You have received this notice because your name is on Misplaced Pages:Feedback request service. If you do not wish to receive these types of notices, please remove your name from that page. RFC bot (talk) 13:15, 12 December 2011 (UTC)

AIV report

Could you please explain why you consider the edits of User:67.190.9.122 to be vandalism? They seem to be normal edits to me. Qwyrxian (talk) 07:29, 13 December 2011 (UTC)

Well, an IP removing references and code, reverting it back within seconds after receving warnings on the IPs talk page, and all without the use of an edit summary. All of that combined generally says "vandal" to me. Was I incorrect? (the IP was blocked for persistent vandalism) Lhb1239 (talk) 16:21, 13 December 2011 (UTC)

I saw information both removed and added, and it looked like it might have been on purpose. However, I don't know anything about the subject, so maybe I just wasn't interpreting the edits I saw correctly. I don't mind that another admin agreed with you that it was vandalism; I wasn't certain enough to act either way. Thanks for the answer and the vigilance! Qwyrxian (talk) 01:43, 14 December 2011 (UTC)
You're welcome. Honestly, I haven't decided yet whether I enjoy doing the anti-vandal thing or not. It seems like kind of a thankless job... And - I appreciate the inquiry. If you run across any edits I'm marking as vandalism and question whether they were actually vandalism or not, please bring it to my attention. I certainly am capable of making errors in that department! Lhb1239 (talk) 04:33, 14 December 2011 (UTC)

Mad Men, smoking

Hi. You recently removed a section about smoking but I've restored it (as a subsection of an earlier thread which could also be questionably forum-y). While my reply to the OP may not directly connect with improving the article, this may be revisited within that context. I think the topic is worthy of the talkpage since smoking features heavily in the show and is thereby mentioned in the WP article. You may not like the Question or the discussion, but censoring it only invites more of the same. Better to address it and let it be archived if no one else wants to weigh in. Respectively, -anonAlph 72.151.121.170 (talk) 20:48, 16 December 2011 (UTC)

I took it out again and it should not be replaced. The OP is a speculation about what message is being sent by the show creators/writers (see WP:CRYSTAL), the rest is about smoking on TV shows (see WP:NOTAFORUM). None of it has anything to do with improving the article. Please do not edit war over this. Lhb1239 (talk) 20:56, 16 December 2011 (UTC)

Regarding 98.92.187.224

Lhb1239, users are allowed to remove warnings from their own talk page; see WP:UP#CMT. This user is probably on a dynamic IP, which means that their IP changes every few seconds. So both of those talk pages belong to them regarding User talk:98.92.187.224.--Ankit Maity 06:10, 17 December 2011 (UTC)
