Surf Ninjas is a 1993 movie, starring Ernie Reyes Jr., Rob Schneider, Nicolas Cowan, and Leslie Nielsen, about two teens (Reyes Jr. and Cowan) who find out that they are heirs to a kingdom on a supposedly unknown island. Their uncle, Zatch Ernie Reyes Sr., comes to save them from mercenaries that pursue them, and the story unfolds.
The film features the prominent appearance of the Sega Game Gear portable, which is owned by one of the heirs and even plays an integral part in the story. There is also a video game adaptation of the movie in the same portable.
Trivia
- When Iggy is told he's not Asian, he cites David Carradine as proof that he is, undoubtably a reference to the fact that Carradine played a Chinese man in the TV seried Kung Fu, despite being Caucasian. Interestingly, Rob Schneider, the actor who played Iggy, is in fact 1/4 Filipino, and thus really is Asian.
- Cowan's character calls the ninjas Quimbys, possibly a reference to Chief Quimby of Inspector Gadget, who often wore outlandish disguises.
