EDSA LRT Station is a station on the Manila LRT Yellow Line (LRT-1). Like all other LRT-1 stations, EDSA station is above-ground. The station is located on the intersection of Taft Avenue and Epifanio de los Santos Avenue, or EDSA, one of Metro Manila's main thoroughfares. The station was named after EDSA, which in turn is named after Epifanio de los Santos, a noted historian.

The station is the second station for trains headed to North Avenue, the twenty-first station for trains headed to Baclaran, and is one of the four LRT stations serving Pasay City, the others are Gil Puyat, Libertad and Baclaran. Its convenient location has helped create many businesses in the area, from the number of hotels and motels to restaurants and shops, with a good majority of them being a short walk from the station.

Nearby landmarks

The station is connected to Metropoint Mall and Saver's Square, both of which are popular with commuters; as well as Winston Lodge and a branch of Sogo Hotel, two of the many motels found along EDSA near the station. It is the ideal stop for those continuing to Ninoy Aquino International Airport and Bay City including SM Mall of Asia, SMX Convention Center, Heritage Hotel, San Juan de Dios Hospital and College and Manila Tytana College (formerly Manila Doctors College).

Transportation links

EDSA LRT Station is served by an abundance of buses, jeepneys, and taxis on both EDSA and Taft Avenue routes, with stops near the station. Many provincial bus lines, such as Victory Liner (serving Northern Luzon) and Philtranco (serving Southern Luzon and the rest of the Philippines), have bus terminals near the station. Buses and jeepneys from this station ply for various points in Metro Manila Pasay City, Muntinlupa City (Sucat and Alabang), Taguig and Parañaque Cities (Bicutan), SM Mall of Asia, Las Pinas City, City of Manila, Caloocan City, and Makati City) and the southern provinces of Cavite, Batangas, and Laguna.

The station is also the transfer point for commuters riding the Manila Metro Rail Transit System, also known as MRT-3 or Blue Line. The station is connected to MRT-3's Taft Avenue station by a walkway embracing the Metropoint Mall.
