Life Sciences Foundation

Hello,

Thank you for your quick review of the Life Sciences Foundation article.

Since submitting the original article, I have added three more references to the draft which I planned to resubmit. As a newbie, I just want to make sure that I am clear on the reason the article was rejected. It appears the issue is lack of references but please do let me know if there are other issues with the article.

Thank you for your assistance,

Donnamarielock (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 23:55, 27 January 2012 (UTC).

Timeline of iPad models

Hi,

Could you please explain why you prefer this version of the Template:Timeline_of_iPad_models template to the version that reverted to. I made the undo for two reasons, the first being that for some reason I can't wrap my head around, in the legend both are shown as "iPad 2" whereas if the original iPad is labelled as such it shows as "Original iPad" and the iPad 2 shows as "iPad 2". The second is that the colours are so close that it makes it very hard to read the timeline.

Regards, Liamdavies (talk) 15:31, 14 October 2011 (UTC)

The key aim was to unify colours between the various iPod/iOS/etc timelines. I don't mind either way between "Original iPad" or "iPad". Sceptre 16:55, 14 October 2011 (UTC)

I agree that their should be unified colours, but could you change them to be a little more contrasted so that you can more clearly see the difference. I agree that "Original iPad" or "iPad" would both be acceptable, but for some reason if you set the legend to "iPad" it just shows up as "iPad 2", well at least for me it does, so for that reason alone I think it should be changed to "Original iPad". Would you be able to make these changes to colours that you feel are best, but still have more contrast than the current colours?

Regards, Liamdavies (talk) 07:07, 15 October 2011 (UTC)

How's it look now? Sceptre 20:15, 15 October 2011 (UTC)
Much clearer, I'd still like a little more contrast, so I changed it a little, but if your not happy with it feel free to change it. I'm also wondering if we need the "Still produced" part of the timeline, I would have thought it self evident that the iPad 2 is still being produced, what are your thoughts? Articles for creation/GreatAmerica Leasing Corporation

Wondering if you could give me some advice on specific actions I can take to improve my article that you recently reviewed for creation. Specifically, can you tell me what you felt were advertisement-like in the article? Thanks much! Wiedenu (talk) 21:46, 26 October 2011 (UTC)

Hi. It was the general tone of the article that led me to decline it; there are a lot of corporations that want their own articles and they tend to use a lot of buzzwords and positive language. In particular, the "corporate organisation" section appears very self-serving. Sceptre 22:09, 26 October 2011 (UTC)

Brown University International Mentoring Program

Hi Will,

Thanks for reviewing my draft and I appreciate your comments. I feel that the page is significant/worthy because many international students who come to Brown get a sense of the network and support they will have. Many incoming students can get an idea of who is helping them and how the university provides support to them. If you have any ideas, please tell me what I can add to my article?

Thanks, Ewin93 (talk) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ewin93 (talkcontribs) 19:08, 27 October 2011 (UTC)

The baseline standard to warrant a Misplaced Pages article is notability: a subject that is the subject of significant coverage in secondary sources is presumed to be notable, and a notable subject may have a Misplaced Pages article. With your request, the only references were to Brown University's website, which is a primary source. Sceptre 19:18, 27 October 2011 (UTC)

Hi again,

I've added 4 different articles from the Brown Daily Herald as secondary sources. I hope it's fine. If not, feel free to tell me how it can go through.

Thanks, Ewin93 (talk)

re Misplaced Pages talk:Articles for creation/J. Hutton Pulitzer

Since you've been watching this one, I wanted to warn you that our suspiciously WP:SPA article creator has also attempted to get this thing through as Misplaced Pages talk:Articles for creation/Jovan Hutton Pulitzer, which I declined as a duplicate. There are major COI and BLP issues here. Pulitzer changed his name after the CueCat debacle (he was originally J. Jovan Philyaw, and there is lots of big negative material about him, e.g. and . If he's notable, it's not in a good way. Mangoe (talk) 18:45, 28 October 2011 (UTC)

GOCE drive newsletter

Invitation from the Guild of Copy Editors

The Guild of Copy Editors invites you to participate in their November 2011 Backlog elimination drive, a month-long effort to reduce the size of the copy edit backlog. The drive begins on November 1 at 00:00 (UTC) and ends on November 30 at 23:59 (UTC). We will be tracking the number of 2010 articles (and specifically will be targeting the oldest three months), as we want to copy edit as many of these as possible. Barnstars will be awarded to anyone who copy edits more than 4,000 words, and special awards will be given to the top 5 in the following categories: "Number of articles", "Number of words", and "Number of articles of over 5,000 words". We hope to see you there! – Your drive coordinators: Diannaa, Chaosdruid, The Utahraptor, Slon02, and SMasters.

Walter Smith (cartographer)

Hello Will

I hope it's ok to use your regular "talk" page, rather than the IP page which we have conversed in up till now.

I have spoken to Walter about the article and he's pointed out to me that he isn't a "cartographer" - the title "cartographer" is something that crept in, btw, and wasn't in the original title of the piece. Walter is, in fact, a surveyor by training and experience. There's a subtle but important difference here: I guess a surveyor is he who does the measuring, i.e prepares the groundwork, and the cartographer actually draws and prints the thing. As I say, it's subtle. Anyway, the old boy (he's 90) has asked me if we can change the title of the piece. How can I go about this?

On another, completely unrelated matter, I note, from your user page, that you're an "audiophile" and particularly enjoy certain bands who are the very ones I grew up with (I'm 52). I'm also a professional composer, so that may interest you. If you'd like to chat more about music etc., that would be great. If you want to take this stuff off your public page, my email address is nick AT squareleg DOT net. Or you could just ignore all that... :)

Cheers

Cunt

Hey Sceptre, please don't go around calling people "reprehensible cunt", esp. not if they're still alive and a judge to boot. It doesn't matter what he did or what you or I might feel about it. I'm sure it violates our BLP policies in a couple of ways, and it sets a bad example for the kids and the grown-ups as well. All joking aside, come on now. Drmies (talk) 01:33, 4 November 2011 (UTC)

I think that user comment on a subject, unless patently libellious, would probably be BLP safe; the BLP policy is born out of legal and ethical issues, and personal opinions tend to be protected to a greater extent. Truth be told, I'm more sorry for using the word as an insult than actually making the insult. Sceptre 16:57, 4 November 2011 (UTC)
I don't know about that. You may be familiar with Mindbunny's escapades (see User talk:Mindbunny)--if I remember correctly, there was consensus that such comments (like yours...) were not OK per BLP, and I personally agree. Anyway. Let's move on. Drmies (talk) 18:30, 4 November 2011 (UTC)

Rhys Morgan

  • Response I am obviously very disappointed by this decision. The assertion that I did not read the article is highly misleading, not to mention offensive. I have been a Misplaced Pages editor for many, many years, and have followed the rules and regulations throughout these years. To suggest that I did not follow the regulations is complete bunkum. Using the evidence present in the article, I made a choice based on what I thought was a fairly obvious case - it STILL breaks our rules on blogs, recentism, notability, and bias. The "keep" votes are from people who have an immense level of conflict of interest, and therefore skew the vote something rotten. I am very disappointed that this entire episode has been carried out at my expense, rather than at the article itself. This response will be copied to as many concerned editors in this matter. doktorb words 18:34, 3 December 2011 (UTC)

New Page Triage engagement strategy released

Hey guys!

I'm dropping you a note because you filled out the New Page Patrol survey, and indicated you'd be interested in being contacted about follow-up work. This is to notify you that we've finally released both the initial documentation about the project and also the engagement strategy, which sets out how we plan to work with the community on this. Please give both a read, and leave any comments or suggestions you have on the talkpage, on my talkpage, or in my inbox - okeyes@wikimedia.org.

It's awesome to finally get to start work on this! :). Okeyes (WMF) (talk) 02:03, 3 March 2012 (UTC)

Page Triage newsletter

Hey guys!

Thanks to all of you who have commented on the New Page Triage talkpage. If you haven't had a chance yet, check it out; we're discussing some pretty interesting ideas, both from the Foundation and the community, and moving towards implementing quite a few of them :).

In addition, on Tuesday 13th March, we're holding an office hours session in #wikimedia-office on IRC at 19:00 UTC (11am Pacific time). If you can make it, please do; we'll have a lot of stuff to show you and talk about, including (hopefully) a timetable of when we're planning to do what. If you can't come, for whatever reason, let me know on my talkpage and I'm happy to send you the logs so you can get an idea of what happened :). Hey all!

Thanks to everyone who attended our first office hours session; the logs can be found here, if you missed it, and we should be holding a second one on Thursday, 22 March 2012 at 18:00 UTC in #wikimedia-office. I hope to see you all there :).

In the meantime, I have greatly expanded the details available at Misplaced Pages:New Page Triage: there's a lot more info about precisely what we're planning. If you have ideas, and they aren't listed there, bring them up and I'll pass them on to the developers for consideration in the second sprint. And if you know anyone who might be interested in contributing, send them there too!

Guild of Copy Editors March 2012 backlog elimination drive update

GOCE March 2012 Backlog Elimination progress graphs

Greetings from the Guild of Copy Editors March 2012 Backlog elimination drive! Here's the mid-drive newsletter.

Participation: We have had 58 people sign up for this drive so far, which compares favorably with our last drive, and 27 have copy-edited at least one article. If you have signed up but have not yet copy-edited any articles, please consider doing so. Every bit helps! If you haven't signed up yet, it's not too late. Join us!

Progress report: Our target of completing the 2010 articles has almost been reached, with only 56 remaining of the 194 we had at the start of the drive. The last ones are always the most difficult, so thank you if you are able to help copy-edit any of the remaining articles. We have reduced the total backlog by 163 articles so far.

Special thanks: Special thanks to Stfg, who has been going through the backlog and doing some preliminary vetting of the articles—removing copyright violations, doing initial clean-up, and nominating some for deletion. This work has helped make the drive a more pleasant experience for all our volunteers.

help triage some feedback

Hey guys.

I appreciate this isn't quite what you signed up for, but I figured as people who are already pretty good at evaluating whether material is useful or not useful through Special:NewPages, you might be interested :). Over the last few months we've been developing the new Article Feedback Tool, which features a free text box. it is imperative that we work out in advance what proportion of feedback is useful or not so we can adjust the design accordingly and not overwhelm you with nonsense.

This is being done through the Feedback Evaluation System (FES), a tool that lets editors run through a stream of comments, selecting their value and viability, so we know what type of design should be promoted or avoided. We're about to start a new round of evaluations, beginning with an office hours session tomorrow at 18:00 UTC. If you'd like to help preemptively kill poor feedback, come along to #wikimedia-office and we'll show you how to use the tool. If you can't make it, send me an email at okeyes@wikimedia.org or drop a note on my talkpage, and I'm happy to give you a quick walkthrough in a one-on-one session :).

All the best, Okeyes (WMF) (talk) 21:36, 20 March 2012 (UTC)

A big NPT update

Hey! Big update on what the developers have been working on, and what is coming up:

coding

  • Fixes for the "moved pages do not show up in Special:NewPages" and "pages created from redirects do not show up in Special:NewPages" bugs have been completed and signed off on. Unfortunately we won't be able to integrate them into the existing version, but they will be worked into the Page Triage interface.
  • Coding has been completed on three elements; the API for displaying metadata about the article in the "list view", the ability to keep the "patrol" button visible if you edit an article before patrolling it, and the automatic removal of deleted pages from the queue. All three are awaiting testing but otherwise complete.

All other elements are either undergoing research, or about to have development started. I appreciate this sounds like we've not got through much work, and truthfully we're a bit disappointed with it as well; we thought we'd be going at a faster pace :(. Unfortunately there seems to be some 24-72 hour bug sweeping the San Francisco office at the moment, and at one time or another we've had several devs out of it. It's kind of messed with workflow.

Stuff to look at

We've got a pair of new mockups to comment on that deal with the filtering mechanism; this is a slightly updated mockup of the list view, and this is what the filtering tab is going to look like. All thoughts, comments and suggestions welcome on the NPT talkpage :). I'd also like to thank the people who came to our last two office hours sessions; the logs will be shortly available here.

I've also just heard that the first functional prototype for enwiki will be deployed mid-April! Really, really stoked to see this happening :). We're finding out if we can stick something up a bit sooner on prototype.wiki or something.

I appreciate there may be questions or suggestions where I've said "I'll find out and get back to you" and then, uh. not ;p. I sincerely apologise for that: things have been a bit hectic at this end over the last few weeks. But if you've got anything I've missed, drop me a line and I'll deal with it! Further questions or issues to the usual address. Thanks, Okeyes (WMF) (talk) 17:10, 3 April 2012 (UTC)

This is the premier event for the MediaWiki and Wikimedia technical community. We'll be hacking, designing, teaching, and socialising, primarily talking about ResourceLoader and Gadgets (extending functionality with JavaScript), the switch to Lua for templates, Wikidata, and Wikimedia Labs.

We want to bring 100-150 people together, including lots of people who have not attended such events before. User scripts, gadgets, API use, Toolserver, Wikimedia Labs, mobile, structured data, templates -- if you are into any of these things, we want you to come!

I also thought you might want to know about other upcoming events where you can learn more about MediaWiki customization and development, how to best use the web API for bots, and various upcoming features and changes. We'd love to have power users, bot maintainers and writers, and template makers at these events so we can all learn from each other and chat about what needs doing.

Check out the the developers' days preceding Wikimania in July in Washington, DC and our other events.

Best wishes! - Sumana Harihareswara, Wikimedia Foundation's Volunteer Development Coordinator. Please reply on my talk page, here or at mediawiki.org. Sumana Harihareswara, Wikimedia Foundation Volunteer Development Coordinator 22:09, 3 April 2012 (UTC)

GOCE March drive wrap-up

Guild of Copy Editors March 2012 backlog elimination drive
GOCE March 2012 Backlog Elimination progress graph

Greetings from the Guild of Copy Editors March 2012 Backlog elimination drive! This is the most successful drive we have had for quite a while. Here is your end-of-drive wrap-up newsletter.

Participation

Of the 70 people who signed up for this drive, 40 copy-edited at least one article. Thanks to all who participated! Special acknowledgement goes out to Lfstevens, who did over 200 articles, most of them in the last third of the drive, and topped all three leaderboard categories. You're a superstar! Stfg and others have been pre-checking the articles for quality and conformance to Misplaced Pages guidelines; some have been nominated for deletion or had some preliminary clean-up done to help make the copy-edit process more fun and appealing. Thanks to all who helped get those nasty last few articles out of the target months.

Progress report

During this drive we were successful in eliminating our target months—October, November, and December 2010—from the queue, and have now eliminated all the 2010 articles from our list. We were able to complete 500 articles this month! End-of-drive results and barnstar information can be found here.

When working on the backlog, please keep in mind that there are options other than copy-editing available; some articles may be candidates for deletion, or may not be suitable for copy-editing at this time for other reasons. The {{GOCEreviewed}} tag can be placed on any article you find to be totally uneditable, and you can nominate for deletion any that you discover to be copyright violations or completely unintelligible. If you need help deciding what to do, please contact any of the coordinators.

Thank you for participating in the March 2012 drive! All contributions are appreciated. Our next copy-edit drive will be in May.

Your drive coordinators – Dianna , Stfg (Talk), and Dank (talk)

FFD comment request

You were the image reviewer at Misplaced Pages:Featured article candidates/Subway (Homicide: Life on the Street)/archive1 which was promoted to FA on 25 January 2010. This included a review of the infobox image File:Homicide life on the street subway.jpg. I am in a debate at Misplaced Pages:Files for deletion/2012 April 15#File:Pilot .28The Cosby Show.29 monopoly lesson.png, which is a debate over the infobox image for a television episode. The reviewer believes that the image currently violates WP:NFCC. I was hoping you might weigh in on this debate.--TonyTheTiger (T/C/BIO/WP:CHICAGO/WP:FOUR) 00:32, 17 April 2012 (UTC)

User script list deprecation

Misplaced Pages's list of user scripts is in bad shape, in that it is disorganized and contains many non-working, unmaintained, or thoroughly obsolete entries. Cleanup has been on the to-do list since 2007, but little progress has been made. Instead, the whole list is now set to be deprecated on 1 May 2012, to be replaced with a new list. This draft list has been up for about a month, and in that time I've been soliciting script users and authors to come add scripts they know to be working and relevant.

If you know of scripts that you would like to survive this deprecation (and are confirmed working and relevant), you're welcome to add them to the new list. Note that the old list will be retained and linked from the main list, so there is no real deadline. Thanks for your help. Equazcion 00:57, 22 Apr 2012 (UTC)

The drive begins on May 1 at 00:00 (UTC) and ends on May 31 at 23:59 (UTC). Our goal for the drive will be to eliminate January, February, and March 2011 from the queue. Barnstars will be awarded to anyone who copy edits more than 4,000 words, and special awards will be given to the top 5 in the following categories: "Number of articles", "Number of words", and "Number of articles of over 5,000 words". We hope to see you there! – Your drive coordinators: Dank, Diannaa, and Stfg.

Manning

Given the controversial nature of such a move/change it really is critical it gets discussed before hand. Moving things to the female name, and using the female pronoun, has serious BLP considerations and should be dealt with using sensitivity and caution, not by the brute application of policy. --Errant 22:37, 5 May 2012 (UTC)

Any enforcement of BLP is welcomed; ArbCom, Jimbo, and the Foundation are clear on that, however brute it may be. From the context of the sources (especially the Lamo chat logs), I can't see any way that referring to her as male doesn't violate IDENTITY. Sceptre 23:03, 5 May 2012 (UTC)
  • Sceptre, with all due respect, calling another editor "either dense or bigoted" is well past accepted civility standards. Well, "dense" I guess is fine, I've been called worse, but "bigoted" surely is not OK, especially not on a topic like that. You've been asked to retract and you haven't--I still hope you will. Thank you. Drmies (talk) 01:45, 6 May 2012 (UTC)

New Pages update

Hey Sceptre/Archive 61 :). A quick update on how things are going with the New Page Triage/New Pages Feed project. As the enwiki page notes, the project is divided into two chunks: the "list view" (essentially an updated version of Special:NewPages) and the "article view", a view you'll be presented with when you open up individual articles that contains a toolbar with lots of options to interact with the page - patrolling it, adding maintenance tags, nominating it for deletion, so on.

On the list view front, we're pretty much done! We tried deploying it to enwiki, in line with our Engagement Strategy on Wednesday, but ran into bugs and had to reschedule - the same happened on Thursday :(. We've queued a new deployment for Monday PST, and hopefully that one will go better. If it does, the software will be ready to play around with and test by the following week! :).

On the article view front, the developers are doing some fantastic work designing the toolbar, which we're calling the "curation bar"; you can see a mockup here. A stripped-down version of this should be ready to deploy fairly soon after the list view is; I'm afraid I don't have precise dates yet. When I have more info, or can unleash everyone to test the list view, I'll let you know :). As always, any questions to the talkpage for the project or mine. Thanks! Okeyes (WMF) (talk) 23:28, 5 May 2012 (UTC)

Hi Sceptre,

I hate to talk about anyone 'behind their back' so I wanted to let you know I asked WP Editor 2011 a question about you on User talk:WP Editor 2011 Penyulap 08:49, 10 May 2012 (UTC)

I don't think it's "insensitive" to ensure ethical standards are followed for transgender living people; I think it's unethical that, despite sources given in the article affirming Manning's identity as female, we would describe her as male. Sceptre 09:24, 10 May 2012 (UTC)
We go by sources, and the vast majority of sources say "Bradley", including this supportive website.Baseball Bugs carrots11:52, 10 May 2012 (UTC)
There are no "sources given in the article affirming Manning's identity as female". That is an outright lie. There are however sources affirming that Manning has indicated that he currently wishes to be identified as male, and known as 'Bradley' or 'Brad'. AndyTheGrump (talk) 14:01, 10 May 2012 (UTC)
Sceptre is clearly engaged in "wishful thinking", and it has to stop. ←Baseball Bugs carrots15:11, 10 May 2012 (UTC)

“Bradley felt he was female,” the counselor told me. “He was very solid on that.” Quickly, their conversation shifted to the practicalities: How does someone transition from male to female? “He really wanted to do surgery,” the counselor recalled. “He was mostly afraid of being alone, being ostracized or somehow weird.”

And, I hate to state the bleedin' obvious, but if you're using gender identity disorder as a legal defence, there has to be cross-gender identification. Sceptre 15:24, 10 May 2012 (UTC)
Why do the sources, including his support website, still call him "Bradley"? ←Baseball Bugs carrots15:30, 10 May 2012 (UTC)
Also, how does gender identity qualify as a defense for espionage? ←Baseball Bugs carrots15:31, 10 May 2012 (UTC)
1) Probably because that's how she was arrested, and how she'll go through the trial. The issue of names is distinct from the issue of gender identity: many trans people use their birth names for some time until they choose a more suitable name when undergoing transition. 2) I guess diminished responsibility due to the effect of gender dysphoria. I'm unaware of the exact circumstances, just that it's being brought up as part of the defence. Sceptre 15:35, 10 May 2012 (UTC)
I don't think "gender identify" qualifies as a plea. "Insanity" might. ←Baseball Bugs carrots16:26, 10 May 2012 (UTC)
Crystal ball to support OR ?

I say thank you very much. There is a difference between what a confused person says once while investigating themselves in therapy with professionals and what a person says repeatedly as a public declaration to the press and in public. I firmly believe the difference is not lost on you.

Elevating one of the many things someone mentions in therapy to the status of a public declaration which overrides all other public declarations is a good way to attack the individual in question using[REDACTED] as your own personal loudhailer. The chance that the person in question doesn't read the article is about the same as the chance he doesn't use the internet or know someone who does. So your aim is not so much just to disrupt here, upset the community here and outside, but what is it ? (Redacted)

WP Editor 2011 was supporting you at ANI, so I was trying to triple-check to make certain there was nothing I was missing. On that editors talkpage, my enquiry met a dead end, but you've helped here, so thank you. Penyulap 04:10, 11 May 2012 (UTC)

"Crystal ball to support OR?" ??? Since when have you ever heard of someone pleading "not guilty by reason of gender identity crisis"? Sorry, but there's no such thing. ←Baseball Bugs carrots05:18, 11 May 2012 (UTC)
Not that any of this is important, BB, but Sceptre never said anything about a plea, he said it might be a defense and he mentioned diminished responsibility. A complicated legal issue dependent on the jurisdiction, the charged crime, and the defenses to that crime.--Bbb23 (talk) 23:06, 11 May 2012 (UTC)

3 questions

Hello Sceptre!

I've asked you three questions at WP:ANI. Would you be so kind to answer them? Arcandam (talk) 11:36, 10 May 2012 (UTC) p.s. Your name almost made me dyslexic! I am used to "Spectre", you know, like the Silk Spectre.

New Page Triage prototype released

Hey Sceptre! We've finally finished the NPT prototype and deployed it on enwiki. We'll be holding an office hours session on the 16th at 21:00 in #wikimedia-office to show it off, get feedback and plot future developments - hope to see you there! Okeyes (WMF) (talk) 03:36, 13 May 2012 (UTC)

GOCE May mid-drive newsletter

Guild of Copy Editors May 2012 backlog elimination drive mid-drive newsletter

Participation: Out of 49 people signed up for this drive so far, 26 have copy-edited at least one article. It's a smaller group than last drive, but we're making good progress. If you've signed up but haven't yet copy-edited any articles, please consider doing so. Every bit helps! If you haven't signed up yet, it's not too late. Template:J

Progress report: We're on track to meet our targets for the drive, largely due to the efforts of Lfstevens and the others on the leaderboard. Thanks to all. We have reduced our target group of articles—January, February, and March 2011—by over half, and it looks like we will achieve that goal. Good progress is being made on the overall backlog as well, with over 500 articles copy-edited during the drive so far. The total backlog currently sits at around 3200 articles.

Hall of Fame: GOCE coordinator Diannaa was awarded a spot in the GOCE Hall of Fame this month! She has copy-edited over 1567 articles during these drives, and surpassed the 1,000,000-word mark on May 5. On to the second million! – Your drive coordinators: Dank, Diannaa and Stfg

New Page Triage/New Pages Feed

Hey all :). A notification that the prototype for the New Pages Feed is now live on enwiki! We had to briefly take it down after an unfortunate bug started showing up, but it's now live and we will continue developing it on-site.

The page can be found at Special:NewPagesFeed. Please, please, please test it and tell us what you think! Note that as a prototype it will inevitably have bugs - if you find one not already mentioned at the talkpage, bring it up and I'm happy to carry it through to the devs. The same is true of any additions you can think of to the software, or any questions you might have - let me know and I'll respond.

Thanks! Okeyes (WMF) (talk) 13:21, 22 May 2012 (UTC)

Articles for Creation Appeal

Articles for Creation is backlogged and needs YOUR help!

Articles for Creation is desperately in need of reviewers! We are looking for urgent help, from experienced editors and administrators alike, to help us clear a record backlog of pending submissions. There is currently a significant backlog of 1878 submissions waiting to be reviewed. These submissions are generally from new editors who have never edited Misplaced Pages before. A prompt, constructive review of submissions could significantly editor retention.

Do you have what it takes?
  1. Are you familiar with Misplaced Pages's policies and guidelines?
  2. Do you know what Misplaced Pages is and is not?
  3. Do you have a working knowledge of the Manual of Style, particularly article naming conventions?
  4. Are you (at least) autoconfirmed?
  5. Can you review submissions based on their individual merits?

If the answer to these questions is yes, then please read the reviewing instructions and donate a little of your time to helping tackle the backlog.

Click here to review to a random submissionArticle selected by erwin85's random article script on toolserver.

We would greatly appreciate your help. Currently, only a small handful of users are reviewing articles. Any help, even if it's just 1 or 2 reviews, would be extremely beneficial.

Doctor Who Magazine #398

Hello. I asked about this over at WP:WHO and it was suggested that you might be able to help. I'm looking for information about a couple of the interviews in DWM #398, which was the "Journey's End" special (more specifically who the interviewers were) so that I can fill out a couple of references. I did have a copy of it myself once upon a time but it got discarded. Thanks for any help! Eshlare (talk) 11:30, 5 June 2012 (UTC)

BLP Ban imposed

For continued violations of the biographies of living persons policy, you are hereby placed under the sanction of being topic-banned from edits relating to Bradley Manning, broadly construed. This sanction is recorded on the special enforcement log and may only be overturned by a clear consensus at the Arbitration enforcement board, or by the Arbitration Committee. Individual administrators are prohibited from overturning this sanction without clear and specific community consensus. Further violations of the BLP policy will result in you being banned from editing. SarekOfVulcan (talk) 02:23, 25 June 2012 (UTC)

I understand that you have stated you plan you avoid the topic anyway, but I think it needs to be formalized. --SarekOfVulcan (talk) 02:23, 25 June 2012 (UTC)
