Userboxes

On userboxes, is there a way to find images that are legal to use? I did notice images on three of my userboxes disappearing, and was wondering if i should find some images on my own, and uploading them onto the userbox, and of course put the right type of copyright license. I'm in Pikeville, Kentucky right now, and i'm going to go see Jason Aldean at the Expo Center tonight. If i manage to get a picture of him, would it be appropriate for use on Misplaced Pages? The Oak Ridge Boys albums

Please check an article's history before you add a speedy tag. You never know what you might find. In the past, I have found previous revisions that asserted notability when the current version did not. Also, if you disagree with an admin's assessment, re-adding a speedy tag can be viewed as admin-shopping. Not a good idea. Paul Erik 17:29, 31 May 2009 (UTC)

Deana Carter

I disagree, because even though it peaked low, there's enough to be said about it, in my opinion. Expanded her actual artist page is a great idea, but you can't expand it with information on a song. I'd rather it be in its own, seperate page where it belongs. The song didn't peak as high as some of her others, but compare the length in that article to her No. 1 hit "We Danced Anyway" - it really is suitable for a page, despite the lower peak. CloversMallRat (talk) 16:57, 1 June 2009 (UTC)

Question re Number one singles in Canada category

Since you were the nominator for this category deletion, I just wanted to check in with you for a question. I've moved a few of the constituents to the correct category per the split. However, as I've been going, I noticed that there are sub-categories here as well, including the three to which the individual articles are being moved. Did you have thoughts about where the sub-categories should be moved, or were you less interested in deleting the category itself than you were in just making sure everything was sub-categorized? Melody Gilbert

I began working on this one. Its gonna be a strong keeper. Sure the original author did nothing but start one sentence with some poor referencing... but the lady's film get some very decent coverage. I'll have no problem pushing this over the GNG bar. Its already looking better and will be great by the time I am through. Home (Michael Bublé song)

May I ask what's wrong with my formatting of this article? I think that it makes more sense to have an intro that summarizes all three versions, a section for Bublé's version, a section for Westlife's and a section for Shelton's. That's simply not how it works. The song is not an independent entity. It is owned and copyrighted by the original artist, and other artists pay/ask to sing their interpretation of the original. It is Misplaced Pages convention to mention the original version first, then separate additional versions later in the article. I also think this version is best. See "Jai Ho", "Against All Odds", "Without You", "Ain't No Mountain High Enough", "Open Arms", and basically every other song that has been resung. Blue's Clues

TPH, I noticed that you had put a headah template on this article. It was a victim of some vandalism that got away from us, so the first section header was removed. I solved it by going way back, to an early-May version, just to be safe, so that removed your template. Thanks, if you hadn't had done that, the bad version would've continued. So you helped me catch it! This article gets a moderate level of vandalism, so no administrator thinks it's bad enough to need protection, so this happens from time to time. Non-Admin snow closure?

I think you have been too hasty closing the AfD on Enectali Figueroa. My nomination was in good faith, and I expected to have some debate. I presented evidence that his h-index failed WP:PROF, and that he was not the pioneer of the type of sensor clamed in the article. As "Enectali Figueroa" he has three Google News hits, none of which say much, and as "Figueroa-Feliciano", none. The wave of Keeps was to be expected when the AfD was listed at Misplaced Pages:WikiProject Deletion sorting/Puerto Rico, but aside from David Shankbone we did not hear from the Misplaced Pages community-at-large. Also, there was a not-vote for deletion on the Talk Page of the article that predated the AfD, indicating that somebody besides me thought this article was questionable. Forthcoming band article

I know you despair at the contentless "forthcoming album" articles we get: how's this for the entire content of a "forthcoming band" article which was speedied this afternoon:

The Sound Of Perseverance is an uncreated Progressive Metal band from Monroe, Louisiana. They hope to find members and write songs in the future, but the actual formation of the band could be unsuccessful.(the name may change in time as well.)

We maybe need a corollary to WP:HAMMER to say that if a band hasn't finished recruiting its article is unlikely to survive. Regards, JohnCD (talk) 21:01, 3 June 2009 (UTC)
