James Dunne O'Connell

Nice work! I've nominated it for DYK; if you want to see the nomination, go to T:TDYK and search for the subsection entitled "James Dunne O'Connell". Nyttend (talk) 03:35, 20 March 2011 (UTC)

DYK for James Dunne O'Connell

Updated DYK queryOn 27 March 2011, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article James Dunne O'Connell, which you created or substantially expanded. The fact was ... that James Dunne O'Connell served as the Chief Signal Officer of the United States Army from 1955 to 1959? You are welcome to check how many hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, quick check) and add it to DYKSTATS if it got over 5,000. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the Did you know? talk page.

DADO

Howdy Bill,

It took me quite awhile to convert the references for DADO. Thanks for putting references in, unfortunately a lot of contributors don't do that. Keep on truckin'. > Best O Fortuna (talk) 18:20, 15 November 2011 (UTC)

A link to a disambiguation page is almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. For more information, see the FAQ or drop a line at the DPL WikiProject.

Hi, friend

I just came across your new start on Edward H. Deavitt in the New Pages queue. I'm going to get in touch with an administrator and see if they'll grant you Autoconfirmed status, which seems overdue in your case. A couple things: (1) it looks like your edit summary is defaulting to "minor" edit, which is distracting. You might be advised to uncheck that and use it only when necessary. (2) It might be good if you whip up a quick "start" for the talk pages associated with your new pages. Add each to one or a few new projects — I assume there's such a thing as WikiProject Vermont for example, plus WikiProject Biography targeted to politicians, etc. When I do I new start I hit a page of a similar subject, slip to the talk page of that, and copy-paste the project templates to the talk page associated with my new subject. You'd need to manually change the importance and class ratings at the same time, of course. It helps to get things targeted to work groups for future improvement. (3) Not sure if you scanned up the Deavitt picture yourself, but it looks like you're battling moire patterns scanning halftones. These can often be alleviated by scanning at a high resolution and then reducing by some irregular percentage amount: In other words, scan at, let's say 600 dpi with a height of 5.7 inches, then chop that to 300 dpi with a height of 4 inches. It doesn't eliminate the "spider web" effect 100% of the time, sometimes one has to play with it, but it does help. Just a Photoshop tip. I've also lately played with multiple uses of a BLUR MORE filter followed by sharpening for scanned halftones. It's surprising how much improvement can be achieved with this strange little technique. Anyway, keep up the good work!!! Carrite (talk) 20:38, 23 February 2012 (UTC)

Pat on the back

Hi Bill...just wanted to say nice job and thanks for the recent recent illistrations & photos that you added to past Missouri governors & other poiticians. I've been working slowly but surely to expand the stubs and add other info whenever I can find it. Photos/illistrations really make an article stand out, IMHO. Anyhow, wanted to let you know your efforts were appreciated. Have a great Wiki kinda day! Sector001 (talk) 17:56, 4 August 2012 (UTC)

Abram Hewitt

Hi. When adding a navbox to an article, please check inside the navbox shell (if there is one) to make sure the navbox isn't there to begin with, as the pre-consoilidation mayor box was already inside the shell on this article. Thanks. Beyond My Ken (talk) 02:44, 16 August 2012 (UTC)
