On 29 June 2013, thousands of Egyptians converged on Tahrir Square in Cairo to demonstrate against the Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi, demanding his resignation from office. By the 30th, their number had increased to tens of thousands. Similar demonstrations are taking place in other Egyptian cities.
On the 1 July, the headquarters of the Muslim Brotherhood in the Moqattam district of Cairo were stormed by protesters.
