==Plot summary==

Rabbi Feldman (Stiller) returns to Sparta after being away for a number of years. The community is gifted with a new ], or the ritual ] used during religious services. However things soon become quite tense for the Jewish community after they are the victims of ]s. First the ] is vandalized, then their new Sefer Torah is stolen.

Chief Forbes begins an investigation immediately, and Feldman works with him to recover the community's property. But Feldman refuses to trust Bill Gillespie. Feldman is still angry with Gillespie's failure to take any action in the aftermath of another hate crime committed against the Jewish community a number of years ago.

Eventually the Torah is recovered. Chief Forbes is invited to participate in the formal ceremony in which the ] is presented to the synagogue.
